  1. Love Ella. Love Jobim. Could never stand this CD. Overall, not a good pairing of artist and material, to my ears (and I'm being polite).
  2. You can't get there from here. But how can you be in two places at once when you're not anywhere at all? I think we're all bozos on this bus.
  3. You can't get there from here.

  6. Kind of sums it up for me. It's okay, but I much prefer the later Hawes Contemporary albums (Green Leaves Of Summer, Here And Now, I'm All Smiles, for example). The interpretations of those older standards on ANS just don't have the same appeal to me as the 60's pop material, which I think Hawes interpreted beautifully. Like Stanley T, Grant Green, and some others, I think Hawes excelled in the realm of 60's material.

  11. I don't think that using the word "owned" to refer to domination in a competetive situation originated in video gaming. I don't pretend to know the actual origin, but I've heard it used for years in baseball (a particular pitcher "owning" a particular hitter, for example).
  12. I recognized that instinctively, without consulting Wikipedia or any other source. At any rate, saying (or typing) "pwned" when you mean to say "owned" seems absurd to me. Was it seen as a cool way to make fun of the guy that made the original typo, or what? Not sure why I'm asking, because I really CCL...
  13. pwn, or pwned = own, or owned (common typo, since the "o" is right next to the "p") FTW = "Fhat The Wuck"? (okay, maybe not, but I could be right about "pwn" )
  14. ROYAL BALLADS is an absolute gem. I really like the other Criss Cross, TWO TENOR WINNER also. Time to pull them out again. Haven't spun MOSAIC for awhile, either. Thank goodness for upped threads.
  15. JJ Kai Elle McPherson
  16. I thought Dusty Groove carried all of their releases. Not that I'm interested.

  18. I knew he was ill, but this is still a very sad day for this bay area sports fan. Thanks for the comments and stories. A man of vision, great leadership, and pure class. RIP, coach.

  20. I was hoping you would answer this question. From your description of the guy's messages to you, he sure appears to be a crook, so the first thing that I wondered is what his feedback rating looks like.
  21. Neither of our links here works for me, even though it works if I copy it into my browser...
  22. Is it this? It does look fishy/odd... item in the title/photo is the "bonus", and the item for sale is barely described. The bonus is a "transfer"... hmm, okayyyy. Odd that this person has nearly 3000 transactions and a 100% feedback rating.
  23. When I click on your link, I get this: Page Not Responding The eBay page or feature you are attempting to access is not responding. Please try the options below: Try to access the feature directly from the eBay Home Page, instead of using a bookmark. Wait a few minutes and try to access the feature again. If you have waited ten to fifteen minutes and you still can't access your page: Check our Announcement Board to see if the feature is currently unavailable. If what you are looking for is unavailable, you may still be able to access other parts of the site from the eBay Home page
  24. Thanks, guys. This is all even more complex than I realized, but you've both helped me to grasp it a bit better. I take it there is somewhat of a "gentlemen's agreement" concerning the way the Paris stage ends in a situation like this year. The teams must work together to insure that the overall leaders basically maintain their positions- is that correct? And so there IS a bit of "competition" on the final day, as the sprint at the finish is left for the riders who are already out of the running for the top positions to show their sprinting skills and provide a little excitement? Leipheimer did make a reference to the tacky move on the part of Vinokourov a few years ago, but I didn't fully understand it at the time. It makes more sense now. From listening to Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwin, I had gotten the impression that Vinokourov was a highly respected rider (and he did show a lot of guts and ability this year after the serious injuries).
