  4. Took the cover scans right outta my mouth. I also would recommend "Virtuoso" for a great example of his later, solo style.

  10. Hey Jim, your photo didn't work, but I found one at the Electra site. Yours is (obviously) a Tele copy, first issued in '72, discontinued in '75. Looks like a potential keeper!

Both? I thought she had 4 or 5 out already...
  12. Yeah, and thanks for reminding me- I haven't pulled out their CD for awhile. So... did you want help finding the CD, or more info about them, or...? I'm not sure about the current availability (don't see them at Dusty Groove), but they do appear here (never ordered from there myself). From what I've read and heard, this is head and shoulders above her other (earlier) discs. It's more in the tradition of her famous parents (generally speaking, of course) though, so if you're into dance mixes, electronica, etc, then it may not float your boat. I'd never actually listened to any of her work until I saw this thread. From the samples I've listened to, she has a very nice voice and feel, but I'm not sure there's anything distinctive enough about her sound to hook me.

  15. I wasn't suggesting that he did. I was basically responding to Chuck's comment (and I'll add that there could very well be another Japanese cover that I'm unaware of...).
  16. I hear ya. Yeah, but they still had shots of those puuurrrttttyyy models to use. Actually, I was under the impression that Lush Life had been issued originally at the time. Was that actually a "rainbow" LP the first time it came out? First issue was a King pressing in Japan. It had a terrible generic cover. I quite like the King cover of that one. Wasn't the first issue actually the 'Applause' budget issue? The Japanese issue was titled "Sweet Slumber", and had a nice cover. I've already erased the cover of the Applause issue from my memory...
  17. Doesn't appear that way (although I spied "Dizzy In Greece" on photo #9). Those photos also leave out some of the interesting items described in the article... all that rare stuff, and they photograph the Chipmunks LP's, Doris Day, Mitch Miller ... Anyway, it would have been fun to be there to be among the first to go through the bins and shelves.

What about... Anybody ever seen that on CD?

  21. Was it an actual blindfold, or coconut cream with whipped cream, or...? Mmmm, I gotta go get dessert.
  22. Van Basten II, welcome. Too bad you weren't around to discuss the World Cup here. We could have used more contributions.
  23. Man... I gotta learn to be concise like that.
  24. Although I concur re the dismal level of quality that exists even for cable subscribers, I still watch some tv... very selectively. I haven't watched a prime-time drama or sitcom for about 25 years, I absolutely hate the network morning shows (I wish my wife could say the same ), never got into "Survivor" or any of the subsequent reality crap (now they even have reality home make-over shows on HGTV )... etc etc. I don't need to watch popular shows in order to feel human, to feel that I "belong", or so that I can make converstion with strangers, and it's very rare that I find anything that's popular to be the least bit entertaining. I do watch some sports, the occasional movie (we have an extended basic package, but no extravagant movie choices), nature, science, history, documentaries... I like to learn something when I'm watching tv. I'm more concerned about the amount of time I spend online vs how much tv I watch.
