  4. Sorry Brad, but you lost me there. What link did you click on? What else are you specifically looking for? (Not sure I can help, but thought I'd ask anyway)
  5. FWIW, much of the data (partial discography and complete track listing by disc) you're looking for is available in the thread linked by B. Goren above. ==== Edit: Sorry, I had forgotten about this: http://www.jazzdiscography.com/Artists/Cole/NKCT.html Thanks to Steve Albin

  7. What was the most recent version you had before picking this up? I have the 2001 Columbia/Legacy 24-bit version (and the Miles/Trane Columbia box set), and I'm finding it hard to believe that this version could sound any better. As I said, I generally don't buy things for sonic upgrades... I'm just surprised/curious because nobody else mentioned your point (unless I overlooked it). To me, the main appeal is getting the "new" material...
  8. ← Sorry if you took my comment as even SLIGHTLY serious. Perhaps I chose the wrong smiley. (sarcastic?) And yet, as I write this, I'm not sure how serious your reply was. ← (I thought it was obvious... )
  9. Thanks for the links, guys. I too am inclined to wait for a low price on this.

  15. Okay... I'll admit to being slow. I don't open every thread here, but still, I'm kind of surprised. How new is this news? I just tried peeking at the Jazzmatazz site, and didn't see any mention of this in the "upcoming" listings (which go back awhile). ??? Is there another thread here where it's been discussed (details given)? I guess I tend to gloss over some of the Miles discussions, because I tend not to do audio upgrades, and I have pretty much what I want by Miles...

  19. Thanks for the link, Jim - what of this worth would you specifically recommend for a soul enchanted by this solo disc? I think the half hour of unreleased music is worth getting the CD, just as good as the rest. Sound could be better, too, as Folkways owns the original tapes. ← You know, Mike, I'm not even sure what's in print these days. I think Bonfa was quite a consistent artist... I don't know that any of his recordings (at least among the ones I have) really stand out above the others. Some feature quite a bit of Maria Toledo's vocals, which I'm not crazy about (kind of "operatic", to my ears). Other than that, I've enjoyed just about everything I've heard. Dusty Groove has carried the EMI/Odeons on the past, and the Verve (which should be relatively easy to find) is very good. The Brazilian Guitar Of Luiz Bonfa - Capitol (Japan) O Violao E O Samba - EMI (Odeon) (released on Epic in US as "Softly") Recado Novo De Luiz Bonfa - EMI (Odeon) Bossa Nova - Verve I didn't realize the extra tracks on the new CD amounted to a half hour. Wow... I may have to change my thinking now. What I would LOVE to find are his recordings with Caterina Valente (I love a TV video clip I've come across).
  20. The original LP ("O Violao de Luiz Bonfa")... ... was reissued by Blue Moon some years ago as "Sambolero" (Blue Moon 3059)... The new version contains a few more tracks, but I haven't picked it up since I have "Sambolero". BEAUTIFUL web-discography here, for those that haven't seen it: http://kanji.zinbun.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~yasuoka/Bonfa/
