Yeah, whatever happened to the good taste shown in yesteryear?...

But seriously, the only Vick I currently have is STEPPIN' OUT, plus his appearance on CRASH. Gotta spin the former again... it's been awhile. As I said, the only RCA I had on vinyl was STRAIGHT UP, and I guess I must have underappreciated that (although it was a serious purge, and no doubt some other good stuff went out the door). It's gotten some very favorable comments around here. I guess CARRIBEAN SUITE is pretty decent too (and I'll just leave that other one alone from now on ). More info on the RCA's here, for those who may have missed it... Any other Vick sideman appearances of note?

STRAIGHT UP STRAIGHT OUT Okay, okay... I'm done... whew...
-
You mean like this? ← Yeah, that's pretty much the idea (although I see the readers only gave that a "7"). HO-kayyyy.... sorry- we can talk about Harold Vick now.

I think so... just can't recall where...

I blame the person(s) who copyrighted the image of the Festrunks. If not for that glitch, this thread would have blossomed and thrived- I just know it. btw.... the term I always heard as a kid was "missile tits"... not "torpedo tits"... Damn, I'm struggling with this whole question now. Kind of shakes one's foundations, you know?

Thanks... unfortunately, all I can see is "User posted image". I see the URL here in the quoted text, but I can't even get that URL to work (the dreaded "forbidden" message ). Oh well. If anybody can post an image of the Festrunk brothers, you'll win... well, you'll win nothing, but I for one will be in awe of you.

My fastest delivery was when I found the Nat Cole set (complete, as new) in a local shop several years ago for $40. I delivered it to the front counter, bought it, and delivered it home in perhaps 6 minutes (before they could change their minds).

Or, maybe not. I guess Lon wasn't "Jazzbo" before this board... unless he used it at the Verve or Harlem or ? boards... Anyway, Collins switched from "Jazzbo" to "Jazzbeaux" around 1969, so Lon seems to be in the clear. Was anybody "Jazzbo" from 1969 to 2003? I don't really care, I'm just making conversation.
-
Ah, Jazzbeaux (or as he often pronounced- "Jazzbox" ("... in the purple grottox"). I miss the guy... used to watch him on UHF when he had "Jazzbo's Open House" on channel 26... at 5 a.m. I also used to listen to him on KSFO (AM radio), KCSM (FM), and a couple of other stations. He didn't play good music all that often but I dug his humor. As for Lon, haven't we been over this connection before?
-
I don't know him, but out of curiosity I tried Google, and it seems there are a few potentially helpful links... http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en...2+email&spell=1 Seems it's "Looy", not "Looye"...?

You have got to love it. Let's just hope everybody leaves that last line alone...
-
... and DON'T anybody mention "Carribean $uite" (again)! Yee$h, those ba$tard$...
-
Hey, $TOP that! I mean, STOP that. I'll probably give in, anyway (and I may have to get "Watch What Happens", if only for the cover... too bad we can't see her pants )

In my collection alone, I've got about two dozen pre-'60 Monkless versions of Round Midnight. Not to pile on Bertrand- I think this is an intersting topic... to see how Monk's influence developed (at least on record).

I dunno, but something tells me either Ackroyd or Martin saw that LP at some point in time. Wish I could have posted the damn picture... ruined the whole gag.

I had STRAIGHT UP on vinyl years ago, and it fell victim to a big LP purge. Now I'm thinking about it again. Thanks alot. Went to Musty Groove to look at the CD, and happened upon this (WTF?)... I mean... WTF? ===== Edit: Looks like I can't post the second pic... http://members.fortunecity.com/delanay/snl54.jpg ... SNL's Czech brothers.

I thought Dmitry's list was already comlete Too bad the site doesn't offer more info. I could swear I saw some of these at a local Tower some years back. If they were from the same production run, I can at least vouch for the covers looking very nice.
