  1. take that you cardinal bastards! woohoo!
  2. paul, i am sorry to hear about your situation. i hope everything works out for the best. has your wife recently lost weight or fixed herself up in anyway. my wife is eerie at how she can predict a divorce. usually when a wife starts to lose weight there is another man on the side, even if no one expects it. good luck. bob
  3. jim - i think most of us can agree that your policing of the forum is fair and much appreciated. thanks for keeping the forum going and thanks for keeping it civil. it's your interest and care that keeps most of us coming back daily.
  4. i have a far side cartoon hanging in my office: it's the devil playing new age music's greatest hits to charlie parker. it's captioned something to the effect of "charlie parker's in hell."
  5. where's black oak arkansas backing up celine dion?
  6. woohoo! my first order of 62 cd's just showed up at my door 30 seconds ago. now i know what took so long - these things are packed like a mo fo! i'll be back in 2 months after i've listened to them all.
  7. i think i might have an extra copy. all of my cd's are boxed up right now (new carpet), but i will check as i unbox them. do you have anything to trade?
  8. all is half right with the world. i received an email with a tracking link today. all cd's have shipped. all will be right when i open the box. now i can start waiting on my second order.
  9. still with you brother. i've been told that my order is at the warehouse, and it should be filled within 5-7 business days. that was on friday. when i informed the csr that friday was the 7th business day, then i was told that it should be filled on monday. i still can't tell you when it will ship.
  10. thanks pete. your order number is below mine, so point for concord.
  11. we here know that is not the case, but they insist that the message boards are wrong. if i can present them with order numbers of people who have actually received their cd's, they might see the error in their ways.
  12. i broke down and called again. concord insists that they are filling all orders in the order received. if any of you who have actually received your cd's could list your order number, it would be greatly appreciated. they say that all orders should be filled within 7 business days. i pointed out that it has been 7 business days on my order, and then i was told that it should be filled as early as monday. i have no idea what is going on. i still have heard nothing since last wednesday when i placed my large order.
  13. still nothing. this has been quite frustrating, but i am sure it will be worth it. if i get my cd's that is. if not i may need to ride to california with the rest of the gang.
  14. i've called and they insist that they are filling all orders in the order received. somehow i jus don't buy it.
  15. still no shipping confirmation.
  16. i really think that it outlived it's usefulness. i bought it in the late 80's when many of the individual titles had not yet been released on cd. not only are all of the individual titles available, but many are available in superior sound.
  17. help me out - is anyone else still waiting on a shipping confirmation for an ordered placed on wednesday?
  18. i just called concord (patience may be a virtue, but i don't have any), and i did not get much help. the customer service rep claimed that they are filling the orders in order, and that people should not be receiving confirmation emails for later orders before other with earlier orders. he could not explain why this is happening. he said that their normal shipping time is 5-10 days of receiving the order. he did let me know that if you place an order for 30 cd's, and they are out of stock of any titles, you will receive the $2.98 price for all cd's that are shipped.
  19. i have a different opnion than most on this issue. while i think downloading my be robbing the industry of new customers, i think there are multiple issues in the decline of sales. first off, i do'nt think that there is an industry on the planet that treats its best customer worse than the record industry (not to mention how they treat many of the "producers" of their product). i mean - how many times do i have to buy the elvis costello catalog (short answer - 0). secondly, i think there is much more competition for the entertainment dollar today than when we were young. when i was in high school there were 2 choices - go to a movie or buy an lp. today the "record" stores that i see doing well do as much business in dvd's as they do in cd's. games are a big purchase for young people - and they ain't cheap. i think the computer games might be the number 1 reason that cd sales are down. the record industry should focus on their "graying" clientele. that might work best for all of us in the long run.
  20. ironically i first noticed this phenomenom (sp.) about 5 years agon on a trip to bloomington. i use to make the trek (about 2 1/2 hours one way) at least once a year. there were about 5 record stores in a one block area, plus a couple of others just a short drive. the last time i was there most of the stores had closed. i was told that young college students no longer buy cd's - they would rather download.
  21. i'll be as patient as i can be (not a strong suit on my part to begin with), but how can jeffrey r place 2 orders after many of us an get confirmations on both of them. it's great for the the people that have received confirmation, but a little confusing to the rest of us.
  22. order number 5585. free shipping, but i have no emails other than the initial confirmation.
  23. thanks felser! i was afraid i had the record. i ordered 62, but we'll see how many actually ship. i also ordered many of the k2 titles. i am purchasing some of these for the 3rd time, but at $2.98 a pop i can't be too mad. does anyone know anything about the bluesville titles. i was very tempted, but that would have put me over $200 and a trip to the couch.
  24. i have a cdr of this, but i have never actually seen a copy. i am a fan of lovano, so i enjoy this set.
  25. how about them redlegs. that was one of the most exciting games i have seen in a long time. of course i only saw the last 2 innings. 9 runs in the 8th and 9th after being down 7 - 0, and a walk off grand slam to boot. almost makes me forgive them for trading frank robinson for being an "old 30."
