  1. Buck Clayton - Complete CBS Jam Sessions, Discs 1 & 2
  2. Now there's a big reason. I too am considering this set.
  3. Funny you should say that. I've only sold one of my Mosaics too and it was the one you just bought! (Woody Herman Capitol) Oh well, I'm still trying to acquire the Elvin Jones set based in part on your highest recommendation.
  4. Disc 1 of the Chico Hamilton Mosaic. Excellent! I've really taken a liking to this set, much to my surprise.
  5. I've never heard of a mistrial causing double jeopardy. Perhaps it matters how the mistrial was triggered. I know a mistrial is called when the jury can't decide the guilt or innocence of a defendant, but that doesn't mean the defendant gets to go free.
  6. Yes, it is passing strange that AMG would have audio samples but Mosaic doesn't. Same goes for the Benedetti set. At least we have a backup plan. Those samples are enticing. ------------------ Edit: I just accidentally discovered a way to load an AMG sample into iTunes. That Teagarden St. James Infirmary sample wasn't working for me, so I tried to grab its address and load it separately. Tricks of the trade? (perhaps there are more automated ways of doing this): 1. Click on the name of the song. It will take you to a page showing all albums that contain that song. 2. Look in the browser's URL field and where it says "sql=33:", change the "33" to "50", then add a "~T" (that's a tilda, not a dash) to the very end. Hit return. 3. Voila, the music sample will download and load up as another record in iTunes with a podcast icon that can be played over and over.
  7. I used to think that answer was somewhere in the $30 differential range, but then there's a fella on eBay who's been buying Mosaics recently, keeping the boxes, and selling the remainder. His last experiment in this folly cost him $73. I guess a mint Curtis Fuller in a Gillespie box doesn't quite cut it for collectors. Same guy on eBay spent $300 for a brand new Lee Morgan 4-CD Mosaic, kept the box and booklet, sold the sealed CDs yesterday, and took a $248 bath in the process. Ouch.
  8. Nice, but a little out of date, don't you think?
  9. Enjoying Disc 1 of the Jimmy Giuffre Capitol/Atlantic set. Makes me wonder how good the Shorty Rogers set is.
  10. As far as I know they do still have a few booklets from OOP sets, and they are selling them for $20 each. No downloads. Yeah, the trick is figuring out what they still have available. Unfortunately it seems to be a hit or miss situation. If only Scott Wenzel published his list of excess OOP stock, things would be a lot easier. As it stands now, you have to email him and ask about a particular item's availability. Last I checked, boxes go for $10, booklets $20, and CDs $16. Standard shipping rates apply. BTW, within the last year I've picked up an extra Parlan box, a CD and booklet from Classic Capitol Jazz, and a booklet from Chico Hamilton.
  11. You got it in one day? That's amazing.
  12. I'll go one further and strongly recommend it. I second that! I third it! I'll throw in my highest recommendation for the Parlan set as well. Here's wishing they'd find some extra Elvin Jones sets. That's one I'm kicking myself over when I had the chance, but my jazz tastes were still formulating.
  13. I remember this is the second go-around for the Herman and Classic Capitol Jazz sets, the second time they've been brought back from the brink of OOPness. The first time I ordered the Herman and it didn't last but 2 hours. Get 'em while they're hot!

  15. Dexter Gordon, Live at the Montmartre Jazzhus box set (Black Lion) Disc 3, Take The "A" Train
  16. I asked this on a different thread today and was referred to this thread... For those who have purchased CDs from oldies.com's Fantasy sale, did you receive cutouts? The web site has this disclaimer: "Fantasy Warehouse Clearance Sale product may be specifically marked for one-way sale." So I was just wondering. Looks like a great bargain either way. Also, does anyone know when the sale will end?
  17. Slightly off topic and I apologize, but this thread got me to go look at oldies.com for the first time and build up my own shopping cart of sale items. Certainly great prices, but then I noticed this statement: "Fantasy Warehouse Clearance Sale product may be specifically marked for one-way sale." Can someone verify whether these sale discs are cutouts or drill hole versions? Also, does anyone know when the sale is expected to end? As far as being tapped out on jazz titles, I've got a long way to go given my relatively recent conversion to jazz.
  18. Received yesterday in mint condition. Thanks!
  19. Plus it's summertime and people are away on vacation (or are they?). Usually this is a bad time to be selling on eBay and a good time for buyers, yet I've seen no drop off for that reason either. Perhaps with all the "stay-cations" happening, folks have more money to buy Mosaics.
  20. PM sent on: Further Explorations By Horace Silver Quintet CONN $6
  21. True Blue Music still has it. That's where I got mine: http://www.truebluemusic.com/prodinfo.asp?number=BROOT04
  22. Haven't listened to this one in a while:
