  1. Nice, but a little out of date, don't you think?
  2. Enjoying Disc 1 of the Jimmy Giuffre Capitol/Atlantic set. Makes me wonder how good the Shorty Rogers set is.
  3. As far as I know they do still have a few booklets from OOP sets, and they are selling them for $20 each. No downloads. Yeah, the trick is figuring out what they still have available. Unfortunately it seems to be a hit or miss situation. If only Scott Wenzel published his list of excess OOP stock, things would be a lot easier. As it stands now, you have to email him and ask about a particular item's availability. Last I checked, boxes go for $10, booklets $20, and CDs $16. Standard shipping rates apply. BTW, within the last year I've picked up an extra Parlan box, a CD and booklet from Classic Capitol Jazz, and a booklet from Chico Hamilton.
  4. You got it in one day? That's amazing.
  5. I'll go one further and strongly recommend it. I second that! I third it! I'll throw in my highest recommendation for the Parlan set as well. Here's wishing they'd find some extra Elvin Jones sets. That's one I'm kicking myself over when I had the chance, but my jazz tastes were still formulating.
  6. I remember this is the second go-around for the Herman and Classic Capitol Jazz sets, the second time they've been brought back from the brink of OOPness. The first time I ordered the Herman and it didn't last but 2 hours. Get 'em while they're hot!
  7. I used to think that answer was somewhere in the $30 differential range, but then there's a fella on eBay who's been buying Mosaics recently, keeping the boxes, and selling the remainder. His last experiment in this folly cost him $73. I guess a mint Curtis Fuller in a Gillespie box doesn't quite cut it for collectors.
  8. Dexter Gordon, Live at the Montmartre Jazzhus box set (Black Lion) Disc 3, Take The "A" Train
  9. I asked this on a different thread today and was referred to this thread... For those who have purchased CDs from oldies.com's Fantasy sale, did you receive cutouts? The web site has this disclaimer: "Fantasy Warehouse Clearance Sale product may be specifically marked for one-way sale." So I was just wondering. Looks like a great bargain either way. Also, does anyone know when the sale will end?
  10. Slightly off topic and I apologize, but this thread got me to go look at oldies.com for the first time and build up my own shopping cart of sale items. Certainly great prices, but then I noticed this statement: "Fantasy Warehouse Clearance Sale product may be specifically marked for one-way sale." Can someone verify whether these sale discs are cutouts or drill hole versions? Also, does anyone know when the sale is expected to end? As far as being tapped out on jazz titles, I've got a long way to go given my relatively recent conversion to jazz.
  11. Received yesterday in mint condition. Thanks!
  12. Plus it's summertime and people are away on vacation (or are they?). Usually this is a bad time to be selling on eBay and a good time for buyers, yet I've seen no drop off for that reason either. Perhaps with all the "stay-cations" happening, folks have more money to buy Mosaics.
  13. PM sent on: Further Explorations By Horace Silver Quintet CONN $6
  14. True Blue Music still has it. That's where I got mine: http://www.truebluemusic.com/prodinfo.asp?number=BROOT04
  15. Haven't listened to this one in a while:
  16. This seems like a good site, but not quite ready for customization: http://www.allmyfaves.com/
  17. All arrived yesterday: Brownie: The Complete Emarcy Recordings of Clifford Brown Buddy De Franco -- Wholly Cats Buddy De Franco -- I Hear Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw Those LoneHill Jazz ones are on a good markdown these days (finally). I'm hoping the Clifford Brown is as good as the Blue Note / Pacific Jazz set.
  18. What's amazing is that even after a free shipping offer for Father's Day not one set has budged from the list in months. Business must really be bad.
  19. Good news! Like you I've got a fair few of these euromosaics - I find the non-Mosaic number on the spine jarring, since it is all I can see of these sets most of the time! So I ordered one of these from an Amazon seller and the box came shrink-wrapped, but the jewel cases inside were not. Everything else is as king ubu said, with the possible exception of a tearing scrape (like somebody dragged a staple point) across 2" of the title on the front of the box cover. Funny thing is the damage was done underneath the shrink-wrap, as if it was deliberate by the factory. Does anybody know if this is the standard way of marking these euromosaics as not full fledged versions, similar to scratching out a UPC code? Other than that, there's no difference between this and the set that costs twice as much directly from Mosaic. Anybody could fill in the serial number and no one would be the wiser.
  20. That's an outstanding price to include shipping. If I didn't already have it, I'd snag it in an instant.
  21. Just curious, tranemonk. What was the great price you got? Tower is showing $41.50 currently. I just bought the OP Mosaic but have yet to crack it open. My discovery of him is yet to begin.
  22. I think an optical scanner would work great. (Are they still being made?) If you have an old mailing catalog, you could scan the marketing blurb introducing the set, and if you own the set itself you could scan the discography in the back of the booklet, including the extra CD sheet. That should give you everything you need (with Mosaic's blessing of course). Might be tough otherwise for Mosaic to find their old softcopies, if they ever had them. Probably in some ancient Word dialect on floppy buried in a long-forgotten file cabinet.
