  1. Well,Louis and Francois are two totally different bags .... I have the first CD issue of tha Savall recording - still one of the best around.
  2. Of course this is an administrator's thing to do, but you asked the question. That said, configuring forum options is not that sophisticated.
  3. It all depends on the settings the forums software allows. IIRC it has always been like this here, that the whole thread is deleted together with an opening post, which makes sense for sales threads and the like, to save storage space on the server. The forum software I had allowed moderators to delete threads, members could edit their posts to blank space or "------" if they wanted to - and you could adjust the time span in which a post could be edited after posting, from one hour to infinity. Take a look into the froum software manual.
  4. .... I'm not through the whole box yet - I like the stuff with piano very much, the two guitars album much less. I'll see how the rest is. Funds are very low this month.
  5. I get the idea for the deletion - the thread went so much astray that the main point was lost. Now that all concerned got the news, we can take action.
  6. Listening to the Joe Pass set on Spotify to make a decision ....
  7. I hope she has a matching turntable ...
  8. Simply wishing a happy birthday, as BillF is hard to top!
  9. Decided against the Webb/Fitzgerald, as I never was that much a fan of Ella's voice and style, and ordered the two CDs from HEP with mainly instrumental tracks,as that is what I really want. If the Hiines is still available from Jazz Messengers in two weeks, I will get a copy from them. Sorry to say that, but it would cost me at least 40 bucks more when ordering directly. The Joe Pass is on my wish list, too - listened to it on Spotify and liked it, as most early Pass.
  10. Decided against the Chick Webb / Ella Fitzgerald Mosaic as I have never been much enarmoured by Ella's voice and vocal sytlistics and ordered the two Chick Webb CD's from HEP instead.
  11. Earlier today in the car: A compilation of tracks from her Decca catalogue, to help me decide on the Webb/Fitzgerald Mosaic box set .....
  12. I'd really love to get these two, but at this moment .....
  13. Today's arrival - excellent!!! It also contains the complete music for viols by Louis Couperin. He and Roberday belong to the same generation and probably knew wach other. These Fugues and Caprices are Roberday's only kown music, as he quit the Paris music scene in 1661 (the year Louis Couperin died) and lived in retirement for the remaining twenty years of his life. His organ pieces are some of the best counterpoint ever written in France, and can be performed by a viol consort as well, as is practiced here. The organ heard is magnificent.
  14. He taught at the Swiss Jazz School in Bern until 2008 - maybe they know? http://www.sjs.ch info(at)sjs.ch
  15. They intend to close shop? Or are the licenses from the Universal group not as long termed as they used to be?
  16. I doubt it would fascinate me as much now as it did then, but it certainly was one of the most influential books of its time. R.I.P. Strange that nobody seems to remember the late follow-up, Lila; An Inquiry into Morals, from 1991.
  17. Excellent in all respects! It is brand new, mine is an advance copy, it is scheduled for May release. You can get it from the label directly: https://www.aeolus-music.com/ae_en Seems they still have to put it on their web pages, though ... JPC has it listed: https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/classic/detail/-/art/reijnold-popma-van-oevering-saemtliche-orgelwerke/hnum/6593481?lang=en
