Wishing you luck and signing in!

Thanks for sharing these memories - I sure expect to hear those tubes on the next Organissimo CD ..... IIRC correctly, Max Roach - who founded M'Boom - used one of these made by the Hollywood Meazzi drum company in the early 1960's.

I go to a male stylist, the same one for many years now. He owns the shop - before him it was the guy who he learned his trade with, he took the shop over at a certain point, and before him it was a very very cute 'n' pretty Italian stylist - it almost broke my heart when she married and moved out of town ..... the two were the first to use Vidal Sasson's methods in Germany.

So one day there will be a series of "Alternate BFTs"?

R.I.P., brother in drums. Another great rhythm spirit has left us.

Two pairs were dropped into my mailbox this morning - thanks! Will hand over one to Mr. Bassman sometime this week. Listening to disc 1 - great choices!!!! Again and again I'm amazed how much music there is that I've never heard .....

Frauenkirche re-consecrated in Dresden
mikeweil replied to ghost of miles's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
This is one of the most beautiful achievements of baroque architects. I witnessed the re-consecration ceremony during it live TV broadcast - it was a very moving one, a demonstration of reconciliation beyond comparison. They had a camera suspende from the roof inside, giving a unique view on the participants moving on the organically conceived basic structure - fantastic. I was there when they just had started to sort out the rocks, and was skeptical whether it merited the gigantic spending, but now that I see the results and the message delivered by all who helped - simply great! I look forward to visiting it in the years to come, the acoustics must be fantastic. I was there two years ago but couldn't get in ... -
Principally, I'm a very patient guy - sometimes I'm not the fastest myself - but this should be completed before the end of the year. We could agree on a rule that every compiler should have at least the basic track data list ready when he ships the discs - personal commentary being nice, but not essential.

60's hardbop trumpeters in 'progressive' contexts

Donald Byrd on that Sam Rivers LP that wasn't released at the time - can't remember the title. It also had Julian Priester and James Spaulding. I have always liked that one very much. -
You'll never guess who I met today...

When the Dalai Lama visited Wiesbaden two months ago the town was orange ..... seriously - go meet him. These people are always very interesting. -
... so much for discographical accuracy. I hope someone here has the single LP or CD .... :bwallace2:

Same here - well, almost: have Vol. 1 on LP, but never got around to move on ..... too much good music and not enough money to buy it all.

Thanks - so it seems to be from two different performances? Or is one of the horns a special guest? Foster is not heard on the tracks Glenn plays on, and plays flute only? And - are there no recording dates on this twofer? Thanks again!

Concord Picante CJP-247 - Cal Tjader - Good Vibes Does anyone here have this LP or its CD counterpart and can tell me location and exact recording date as stated in the liner credits? I have tracks and personnel. Was this recorded at the Concord Jazz Festival? Perhaps on tow different occasions, as the credits include both Roger Glenn on flute and Gary Foster on flute, alto, and soprano. If so, who plays on which track? Thanks a lot!

Sorry - it worked perfectly on my computer/browser combination - until today. As Claude stated, the Concord webmasters are working on integrating the whole Fantasy online catalog into their own site, which will take some time.

Welcome to the board! Some nice albums you have listed - I have lived with half of them since they were newly released, got me the Arnold immediately when it was reissued. Hope for the second LP "Tribe". The Duke LPs never were on CD, AFAIK, only the subsequent MPS LPs - no idea why - the first was excellent. Since Frank Zappa guests on "Feel" the Zappa estate may have an expensive hand on this. What label is that George Ohtsuka reissued on, and when was it recorded?

Use this link to go directly to the catalog page. The latest printed catalog is available for download as a pdf file on this page - better than nothing. BTW - if you want to browse the catalog like you are used to do online, you can rip the whole site to your harddisc, Xaldon web spider or other software will create a mirror of the whole site. With a fast connection it doesn't take too long.

I did some web research: Concord is distributed in Germany by the Edel company. They seem to concentrate more on trendy pop stuff. AFAIK they don't even carry the whole Concord catalogue - I have the impression they acquired the distribution rights more for Concord's audiophile reputation rather than for interest in jazz. No idea whether they will take over the Fantasy part of the Concord catalogue as well. German Edel website

Probably not. The Great Guitars CD is the only CD issue of the Lou Mecca Blue Note 10", AFAIK, or was this on a Toshiba single CD as well?
-
Same here - good introduction to much great music. Always kept them until I had better sounding or more complete CD issues. With the Andrew Hill Mosaic Select the last of these have been made available on CD ... the end of an era, definitely.
