At this point in time it would have to be the Turrentine gig over at Minton's. Did Rudy record anything else over there for BN? Lion was quite effusive with praise for the entire affair so I should think he would have gone back to the well, so to speak. Must have been a great place! -
When he gets here, we'll have Ron go meet him at the front gate.

Thanks for that, Vibes! -
Your powers of persuasion are shockingly inadequate. I suggest that you revisit the final episode of The Sopranos (year four) with the attorney who wouldn't refund the $200k home deposit ...and take a clue. You do have a home on S.F. Bay, don't you?

Like the professional athletes who somehow manage to seed a sentence with 'you know'...two or three times over? I always enjoy hearing that peculiar placeholder 'jigga' (sp?) that the Chinese use so liberally. -
Banned.....and still hovering in the 'active users' column.

Same here. Was it a political thread? This thread is a good example. As long as a guy like deep keeps holding the AAJ board hostage and terrorizing it like he's doing now, I'm not going to post over there. Every time a poster is saying something deep doesn’t like (which is almost all of the time, unless it's Patricia / Still Life), they get a bashing; my English is not good enough to counter sexist, childish and offensive posts like his. It's beginning to look like deep is controlling the AAJ board. Sensing an opportunity to put his exceptional interpersonal skills to work, DEEP adopts a courteous demeanor and asks the moderator to show another poster the door. Now that's rich!

Yes to Dave Pike. The title track on 'Bophead' really gets the juices flowing!

Ah, sorry Mr. Eagleton.....no legislating on an appropriations bill. You'll have to find some other vehicle for your amendment. -
I'm in total agreement with this....exercise is the key. As a 6'2" consumer of 3 pints of brew a night, I've hung around the 225 lb range for many years by taking brisk 30 min. walks 4-5 times a week. Every week, I saute (in olive oil) a pot of julienned peppers (red, green, orange & yellow) for hours untill they are nice and soft....and then combine a healthy portion of this with some chicken chunks or prosciutto, fresh spinach, a few tomatoes, 2 tablespoons of romano, some diced steamed asparagus, and some mashed cannellini or garbanzo beans (much lower sodium than the canned refried veggy beans) in a tortilla and nuke it for 2 minutes. Gotta throw on a couple of shots of my favorite 'Dr. Chilemeister's Sick & Deadly Insane Hot Sauce' and wash 'er down with a weizen! Yeah, I know that if it's in a tortilla, it should be called a Burrito ......but those cheese stuffed, sour cream laden 35 gram of fat things are in an entirely different category and I'm calling mine a Beerito!

Well, not exactly.......but prior to polishing up the carbon steel blades on the English Boarding Cutlasses there are some rather pleasant cello/viola duets in the Captain's Quarters. -

They did a nice job with this one......period uniforms (1805) looked excellent, as did the vessels. Life in H.M. Navy was probably a bit more brutal than was depicted and Crowe has perhaps an extra ounce of fun-lovin' zip to his stride....but overall not a bad choice. I thought that the best part of the film was when they let loose with the first salvo of .......and then the rear aft the beam ........plus the tottering foremast had some ...........and he finally said 'please pass the salt'! Woa !! -
The O'Brian books that I've read are superb and I hope that this film is as good as it sounds. Last 'grown-up' film I ventured into the theater for was about 5 years ago ('Saving Private Ryan').....what are they like now? These places serve up noontime brews on tap yet? B)
