  1. Elmo Hope Trio (Toshiba 10")
  2. I'm not 100% sure of this, but I think they mainly focus in on the VICJ-4xxxx and 6xxxx series over there? Can't say that I've seen a full 2xxx list all spelled out neat & tidy.....but if you wanted to check on some items from that late-90's run, the thing I'd do is to go to the JVC site.....check the 2nd circle down the list in the search box and just plug in the numbers. A bit laborious, but it'll get you what you want (ie. VICJ-2001 is Konitz, VICJ-2002 is Getz/Konitz, VICJ-2003 is JJ Johnson, VICJ-2004 is the Getz 'Quartets'..........right on up through VICJ-2099 Burrell 'Blue Moods' etc......
  3. The guy says 'thanks!' for all the international support they're getting. Just imagine if he vacuum sealed that teriyaki bowl or asian chicken salad -- bet the deep pocket eBayers in Indonesia and Bhutan would just go wild bidding that up into the tens-of-thousands!
  4. ........a non-mfsl pressing.
  5. Yep, but he needs to fold back that little tear on the Modest Jazz Trio obi strip and re-scan it for us to cop........er, for us to look at!!
  6. Interesting site, Randy. I wasn't aware of this archive. Looked up my uncle. Like you, I only had sketchy details at best and it wasn't until September when I took him out to see the SR-71 'Blackbird' (he was on the design team) at the ** Smithsonian Air & Space museum out near Dulles Airport that I really got the full story about his WWII service. Man, what an amazing burst of action he saw (not spelled out in the 'raw' forms presented here though)......from flight school right into the thick of it flying F-4 'Wildcats' off escort carriers against the Japanese at Iwo Jima, Leyte (Lingayen Gulf) and Okinawa -- all in a 4 month window. At Iwo, he was returning to his carrier (Makin Island) after having attacked caves & fortified emplacements around the mountain, when a kamikaze Zero slammed right into the neighboring carrier Bismarck Sea, hitting the pilot's briefing room and killing all the assembled pilots. Ship then took a second direct hit and exploded. He was right there in the air. Bismarck Sea ** Air & Space is a 'must see' for anyone who visits the D.C. area. It's incredible.
  7. You're just throwing that up as a sacrificial lamb so that everyone will run to it and you'll be left to grab this.
  8. Toshiba TOCJ 6716(Blue Note)New(24 Bit) Laws,Ronnie(ts)/ Pressure Sensitive 1500 Despite being loaded with everything I hate - electric piano, soprano sax, synthesizers -- this one w/Joe Sample on board is pretty good. We played a couple of tracks at our wedding reception in 1988. The song 'Always There' is great for a party.....got a good groove! I pull the LP or cd out a couple of times a year just to blast that one track.
  9. This the Bagley cd you're referring to? Sure looks interesting. How's the sound? Update: Per Hiroshi's latest newsletter, looks like this'll be out in March. Good news! http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...=0entry464358
  10. I'm looking forward to that Raney. That should arrive with the pre-ordered 'Frivolous Sal' TOCJ that's due in next week. $12 is an a-okay price!
  11. Jimmy Smith Got My Mojo Workin (Verve)
  12. True....good point. Surprised they haven't been snapped up yet? Maybe you need to follow the Amazon Deutschland model and place a single small dutch chocolate in the packet the way that they place a small Haribo packet in overseas bound boxes? TOCJs will all be gone by morning!!
  13. ...anything's possible!
  14. Oh, okay.. ........anyway, back to Uncle Charley for a minute....I only plugged into the show after 1967 and never realized that William Demarest wasn't there from the get-go, and had in fact replaced the ailing William Frawley ('I Love Lucy')......
  15. Yeah man, I'm sho' man ya' wuz way mo'e waaay coo' and street smart dan some 8 year old girl and could see right drough all de hollow JIVE! http://rinkworks.com/dialect/
  16. Right! right! Kuhn's the one!
  17. Certainly!! With all the garbage on the tube, shows like that are great for kids. Munsters, etc.. too! ......oh, and 'A Family Affair' (w/Brian Keith and Sebastian Cabot) box set as well......another good 60's one for children that should be be released.
  18. If anyone's collecting these ones, a fair number of the TOCJ-6XXX series titles (Cool Struttin', Demon's Dance, Moanin', Blue Train, Somethin' Else, etc...) are now available at HMV Japan for $10 a pop. That's not bad.
  19. Anyone heard the Dewey Redman 'African Venus' one? Any good? Is he playing tenor or alto on it? p.s. Daniel, there's a new Hazeltine out today. Clips sound pretty good.
  20. Time Tunnel's good.....but what about My Three Sons?? Where's the My Three Sons set??? What's wrong with these people for not releasing a box? A no brainer!
  21. Hey, the map thing I can let slide.....but there are limits!!! It's when those high school kids start interning over at the JVC music dept for the summer and start mucking things up and threatening to poison the whole of civilization that we need to sound the clarion call to action. VICJ-60506 Bobby Timmons, Trio in Person +2 VICJ-60507 Barry Harris, Prominade VICJ-60508 Junior Mance, At the Village Vanguard VICJ-60509 Billy Taylor with Four Fruits VICJ-60510 Johnny Oberny with Warne Marsh, The Right Combination VICJ-60511 Thelonious Monk, At the Town Hall VICJ-60512 Cannonball Adderley Quintet, in New York
  22. I have it (1628)..........and still sealed no less!!! I'm just thinking of all the other deserving folk out there who need it!
  23. The document literacy question on page 60 is rather shocking. Only 74% of those who are about to graduate from a 4-year institution correctly answered it? .........and just 36% of all adults?
  24. You're not kidding! $36 shipping for 12 'steenking' mini-lps from Amazon Japan. Btw, nice of you to make such an offer........ the number of PMs you'll get would make an interesting poll question: A) 2 B) 3-10 C) 11-16 D) 17- I just lost a good friend. I'll say C.
