  1. I see Sam are doing another pressing soon. I will try not to miss it this time. It is good isn't it?
  2. Yes, I really warmed to it today. Previously I'd found it a bit studied/academic but not today
  3. Waiting for UK distribution, usually happens with Pi
  4. God love The Beat, this meant so very much at the time
  5. isn't this why The Clash existed? Will you please stop reliving my teenage years Todd, Utopia, oh yes
  6. Ah, that's a great shame. I haven't listened to Sandanista for probably 20 years but I was in a 2nd hand store and they were discussing what to price it at - they went for £20. I remember it as a little sprawling but, as you say, very varied. I should try and find my copy. I still remember buying 'London Calling' on release day after school and then buying the CD after work on the day Strummer died as I didn't have a turntable set up then.
  7. You are indeed I'm off on a Clash nostalgia trip now. Mind you, I was discussing Sandanista only last weekend in a record shop. Biggest rock music regret never seeing them live when I had so many chances.
  8. Van Morrison - Astral Weeks {Warner bros., UK 1969] Richard Davis!
  9. Cool as Fuck And, thank you TTK for remembering
  10. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000yw8g/bbc-proms-2021-nubya-garcia Nubya Garcia at The BBC Proms last night. Excellent so far
  11. John Graas - Jazz Lab 1 [Brunswick, UK 1956]
  12. It's a bit messy but has an atmosphere. Gardens was quite an early purchase for me so it's held dear. now on something somewhat different. I was hoping it would be a bit more noir than it is
  13. First listen to this, interesting
  14. I'd take an LP's worth of 'Neophilia' any day of the week
  15. Crikey! nice one. Where did you find it in stock in the UK? I'm someone who finds the 3CD version more than enough so I can happily sit this one out I think
  16. Order placed along with the Mike Taylor RSD. Good old Juno
  17. Yes, a good place to start with them. It gives a nice flavour of them individually. Musson is a recent discovery for me, she plays with Pat Thomas and released a very good solo recording Dreamsing not so long ago. Brice can be heard to good effect on his quintet albums as a writer as well as player. His duos with Tom Challenger are worth hearing too. I think Musson, Brice and Challenger are all worth following. A youngish (from where I look at least) generation nicely established.
  18. I think I agree with that. I've not enjoyed rather than admired an Iyer release since before 'Break Stuff' except of course the duo with Wadada. (I'm not one to countenance the 'curse of Manfred Eicher' but it's making me wonder) Maybe I should break out the Fieldwork albums for a dusting down. They were great, maybe the still are Two musicians I've enjoyed apart from each other coming together very nicely here
  19. thanks, order will be placed. Is there any listings of what's coming after Dejeuner yet? They really should set a subscription for this series
  20. Thanks, pending surgery so no Covid thankfully
