And how does that stand up now? I remember the fuss when it came out, it was never really going to live up to it all.
Crosby is such an important figure.
I don't know the albums under discussion but do know a thread on this era of Japanese Jazz will lead to bankruptcy (I'm only just readjusting after Rabshakeh's European Modernism thread)
I thought we had a thread on the freer end of the spectrum from this time period in Japan but can't find it with a search but I'm not functioning very efficiently today so it's probably out there
My box just delivered, also fulfilled by Squidco. Disc 1. playing now. Until now I've only dipped into the download copy so now starts the real listen.
I can still remember that day I heard it for the first time, about 40 (ouch!) years ago.
edit to add: does anyone know if the Blood&Fire reissue is still the best about or have more recent releases surpassed it?
That's brilliant, hope it's all up to snuff. I'll await reports from the front with anticipation.
I don't really see anyone being fooled just folk making considered decisions as to whether to purchase or otherwise. Some are, and I'm sure they will be rightly chuffed others aren't and I suspect they will not regret it. Everyone happy
Welcome back MG, nice to see 'breakfast with...' selections once again
I don't believe so, not on the BC page at least.
Its a nice document, not the greatest SQ, bit boxy
Thanks. Mythic status deserved by the sounds of things. Merlin's ha! I found a nice Shirley Scott in my only trip there, no added extras sadly.
I've been wondering about. trip to Stranger Than Paradise, not sure I have the necessary Hackney attributes any more. I'm on their mailing list and their pricing's a touch rich too
There wasn't any vinyl out except on the walls when I went on my day off trip (this was some years ago). Combined it with a trip to the Putney Debates church nearby which was also disappointing. That's sarf of the river for you.
I've never been to Alan's, it's almost reached mythic status!
That's a trek. Only made it the once to find the LPs weren't on display, only CDs. I had to try and tell them what I was interested in so they could get them from the back room.
They still do this?
