  1. Masahiko Sato - Kayobi No Onna [Mitsuko & Svetlana Records, 2020] thinking this is probably somewhere in the @Teasing the Korean ballpark? Late 60s Japanese detective series soundtrack.
  2. I don't disagree with much of that. I still think the tears were genuine. It would seem that the obvious solution for both parties does seem to have been for him to stay and play for nothing, or next to nothing, which makes me think there's more to all this than meets the eye. Barcelona should have let him go when he asked to last summer. There's an interesting article here about the idea of him playing for free, you may have read it already https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2021/aug/10/messis-exit-shows-players-are-abottom-of-footballs-power-structure-barcelona Either way, he's still one of the top three footballers I've seen in my lifetime, possibly the best but Diego has something to say about that... I have been to Barcelona a few times but not in the last twenty years so have missed the effigies.
  3. Gertrude Jekyll Capability Brown Incapability Johnson
  4. No problem with him crying at all, looked genuinely upset to me. I'd hoped we'd got beyond belittling people for showing emotion whatever you think of the situation and the man concerned.
  5. Sabu - Message To Chicago [Trio/Octave Lab, Japan 2021]
  6. and finally Don Friedman Quartet featuring Attila Zoller - Dreams And Expectations [Riverside, 1965, mono]
  7. You did, thanks. They needed an airing, well worth the time
  8. Attila Zoller Quartet - Horizon Beyond [Emarcy, 1966]
  9. Attila Zoller/Don Friedman - Metamorphosis [Saba, Germany 1966]
  10. That's a nice one, preferably without the jab side effects though. Hope they subside soon.
  11. Sonny Stitt - Lone Wolf, The Roost Alternates {Run Out Groove, 2019]
  12. Hal McKusick Quintet featuring Art Farmer [Vogue Coral UK, 1957]
  13. Various - The Arrangers, The RCA Victor Jazz Workshop McKusick, Carisi, Levitt
  14. Well, I shan't spoil the surprise
  15. I'm honoured. Buon Appetito!
  16. I'm missing 'The Eastern Moods' and 'Spellbound' on LP. One day. 'The Music of' on New Jazz is my favourite.
  17. Absolute gem
  18. I thought this was a intriguing release
  19. Glad to hear it's not just me what with the near universal praise it received
  20. My copy of her new release arrived yesterday. I passed Clockwise to a mate as I really didn't get on with it - it seemed too beholden to Steve Coleman and Steve Lehman and didn't have enough of a distinct identity, seemed too written, rigid and precise to me. Maybe I should relisten. She's someone I want to like for some reason. However I thought her her big band collaboration with Angela Morris was great so giving the new one a try for the big band disc more than the trio https://angelamorrismusic.com/bigband/ I cancelled a gig attendance for today as it was in a unventilated basement space that sits 30 or so people very snugly. Just not prepared to take the risk with community infection figures as high as they are in London. Live music's important but not that important. Interestingly for me at least, I've discovered that I missed attending art galleries more than live music.
  21. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/aug/08/lionel-messi-tearful-barcelona-transfer A one-club player, can't see is heart moving to Paris even if his body does. Interesting comments about the prospect of playing for free and not having been asked to
