  3. Did for me before I ducked out at the postage.
  4. That's got to be a bargain. Shame the postage is $28 to UK!
  5. Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson - Winter in America [strata East] "gotta find a way out of this confusion...." Prophets in their own land?
  6. Dewey Redman - Coincide [impulse] Dewey and Leroy - Yeah!

    Anthony Braxton

I have a copy of it somewhere, but haven't listened to it in years. I recall it's entertaining enough, but much different from subsequent creative music orchestra works and more like a big band version of his earlier work with Leo Smith and Leroy Jenkins. At times, it sounds comparable to a Kagel or Stockhausen piece. For example, there's a passage for 100 balloons. Joachim Kuhn is on piano. Intriguing, thanks
  8. Gunter Hampel & Jeanne Lee - Oasis [Horo]
  9. Except I think you can generalise. Grief and loss will be strong emotions. They will probably be stronger than any once-removed attachment that the bereaved will feel for our collections. I'm not suggesting we shouldn't do what we can to avoid rip-offs but I'm realistic enough to accept that I won't be there to influence decisions and that whoever is making the decisions will do what they will do - I don't want to complicate their decisions with my attachment to my collection whatever that may be whilst I'm alive. Sell it and make something good out of it for themselves from the proceedings, even donate it but please don't worry too much about it
  10. Yes please

Does anyone have any opinions on this Ring Records release? Creative Music Orchestra‎– RBN----3° K12 (Pour Orchestre) 3LP. Recorded 1972
  12. Couldn't agree more. Whatever our collections mean to us whilst alive they'll be little more than an encumbrance to those we leave grieving (if indeed we do). It strikes me that the most effective offload for anyone in the midst of sorting out another's life whilst dealing with their loss would be to go direct to a dealer/shop. Maybe not the most economically productive but I doubt that will be a major consideration at the time. I'm pleased that the board has been able to help Laurie in what must have been a difficult decision. The empathy displayed by most posters to the thread has been a testament to this community
  13. this one and this one the Mosaic fwiw found by googling 'Organissimo Anthony Braxton'. better than the board search I find
  14. Welcome aboard!
  15. Love that Moncur. My favourite BN possibly meantime... Keith Jarrett - Nude Ants [ECM] sometimes returning to and rediscovering a recording not listened to in years is a thing of joy. The sheer exuberance on display here is enough to take the edge off the crappiest day.
  16. Oriental Wind - Bazaar [sonet]
  17. Polar Bear - Black and White [No Label 10''] still the most interesting and inventine Brit band of their generation
  18. Astral Weeks. Hoping that the ten minutes stretched as long as possible
  19. which rather begs the question, what was her eighth choice? Don't tell me it was 'Boogie Chillun'
  20. Elton Dean Quintet - Boundaries [Japo] Enjoying this one a lot (with gratitude for the generosity of a board member)
  21. That's a damn shame
  22. My Iska's pretty clean apart from a pressing bubble that explodes like a bomb for three revs on each side. Certainly wrecks the atmosphere
  23. Wayne Shorter - Odyssey of Iska [blue Note] There are sections on it where he makes Cecil sound like a Chopin recitalist. Loved that comparison Leeway. First listen certainly revealed a strong session
  24. I'm with Felser. Iska is the one if you've already got other Shorter BNs. It has a very strong identity of its own that sets it apart from what went before and points to where WS was headed. I just wish I could track down a good clean vinyl without a wrecked cover. Etc is a fine date but nothing ground breaking to these ears I'm with JSngry on that Etc cover though....the hunt is on!
  25. Any news of UK dates, Tim?
