Two sets! (albeit 45 min each). I've only seen Braxton do single sets timed to the big sand dial he uses (about an hour). Would like to see that group! Yes, it was a treat. Each set seemed no longer than 30 mins Tomorrow night it's Brotzmann, Drake and Parker at Cafe Oto. Can't wait to hear that combination live

That's the one I was thinking of. They started off that performance as a trio and Braxton came on as a guest for one or two of the numbers. I remember him almost blowing the roof off with that contra bass sax on one of his solos, spurred on by Oxley. the roof and my head I think. Wasn't that to celebrate the reopening after the RFH refurb?

I'm with Alex on this. Braxton Quartet on a double bill with Taylor Oxley, Dixon in 2004. The Braxton is the Leo release. In 2007 Braxton played with Taylor, Oxley and William Parker as a quartet. Can't remember if there was a support more a case of duos building up to the full Quartet I was at both - I know that much!

I bought 'Twine' by Leimgruber and EP yesterday in the Clean Feed sale solely on Leeway's enthusiasm for UL. I've often wondered about Om (out loud on this board I suspect). And now I have Reflexion to wonder about too Now playing Eberhard Weber - The Following Morning [ECM]. paid very little for this one a couple of days ago and I'm wondering how three tracks can be NM and one alone be completely trashed (and look fine)......weird. Music's enjoyable once you give it some time

with a fair wind I'll be at the Colston Hall. I saw that one with Taylor, Parker and Oxley. I think the 10 years is since his quartet played RFH (released on Leo) opening for Cecil Taylor, Bill Dixon and Tony Oxley or did they come on after that trio - the memory fails

I found a vinyl copy of this today at what would appear a reasonable price. I don't know Russell's music at all (I know, ignorance alert) so didn't buy it. All Music Guide raves about it but mentions "screeching rock guitar" (not my thing at all) on one track. Any fans out there? How would you characterise the album? all comments gratefully receieved and may well influence whether I'm camping out in the morning waiting for the shop to open......

How is that one? I've often wondered about how it sounds without Vesala's usual cohort on board It's certainly different from the likes of Twet, Live at Remont. As the titles imply it has a heavier and altogether richer soundscape. It lacks the sheer visceral impact these other titles have and is perhaps closer to ECM releases like "Ode to the death of jazz". It's well worth hearing. Have not played this album nor "twet" or "live at remont" in years...a good reminder. And will you be seeing Jone Takamaki, mjazzg? If so you're lucky! Jealous... Thanks Gents. I'd suspected that it may be closer to the ECMs which is no bad thing in my book at all. I'm a big fan of all Sound and Fury albums Live at Remont I don't know at all but enjoy Twet a lot Yes, hoping to make it to Takamaki, life permitting
