  1. Vinyls of each (Looking at other posts I'm wondering why my Google Image searchs are seemingly returning far fewer and smaller images of late?)
  2. Yes, super session. Glad there's another fan , do you know the other Silkheart "and the Solomonic Quintet" by any chance? I'd be interested to know how it compares

    That Canterbury programme looks tempting

I listened to that this morning too
  5. Ahmed Abdullah Quartet - Liquid Magic [silkheart] Such a good band, Malachi Favors, Alvin Fielder and of course, Charles Brackeen
  6. Ahmed Abdullah - Live at Ali's Alley [Cadence Jazz Records]

Beautifully put, agree wholeheartedly. thanks for saving me (and the board) from writing my review, Bev. Maybe the surprise of the evening for me was witnessing Django Bates in such company (perhaps the only one who couldn't be described as a 'usual suspect'?) - his piano contributions seemed to me uncharacteristically minimal (and free) but absolutely on the money the whole evening came across as a very warm tribute to EP - I felt it was evident that every musician was pleased to be there and contributing. A word also for the sumptuous acoustic which made every contribution beautifully clear. Enjoyed our chat too - Henry Cow and Family!
  8. Steve Lacy - Stabs [FMP]
  9. Discussed here I believe
  10. Gunter Hampel - Celebrations {Birth Records]
  11. ordered my Hum Dono reissue. Thanks to Sidewinder's thread
  12. Just placed my pre-order. I thought £74.99 a bit steep but after all this time .......and there is the T-shirt for the first thirty purchasers. Kind of swung it for me
  13. I definitely agree with you there. A matrvellous LP and that rhythm section A pity that rhythm section never recorded on their own at subject time for ECM ....... You can get close with this one... Yes, that was my first thought....I even had to double check who was the bassist on the set. Good album
  14. A new release on TUM imminent http://tumrecords.com/036-to-future-memories many of the usual suspects involved so i think we can be confident it'll be up to the usual high standards
  15. This is very good indeed. All Collier fans, and others, will appreciate its release I think
  16. I definitely agree with you there. A matrvellous LP and that rhythm section

There was a 'kickstarter'style attempt to get a bio funded a couple of years ago but it didn't come to fruition

A great short film http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k49gTrDCU0U Evan Parker in his London 'home from home' talking a lot of sense
  19. Whoa. That's got to be a beauty. Often been tempted to shell the $$$$ for it but not yet...one day. That trio has to be right up there in the list of my most overwhelming live music experiences in the Bim?
  20. Cecil McBee Sextet - Music from the Source [Enja] perfectly uplifting music for a lovely sunny spring day in London town. Another purchase prompted by a post on this board - thanks Leeway
  21. I paid more than $5 ....but I'm happy nonetheless edit: to add that CT's spot on about side two - an extraordinary piece of music. the rhythmic emphasis apparent on the first side is replaced by a restrained and beautiful lyricism
  22. Bob Moses - Bittersuite in the Ozone [Mozown] today's arrival. More Jeanne Lee (can't go wrong there) but that's not it's only delight. Initial impressions are interesting line up and some pretty interesting sounds - unsurprisingly perhaps, heavy on rhythm. Looking forward to getting to know it better
  23. Marion Brown - Solo saxophone [sweet Earth Records] (thanks to JeffCrom for posting this a while back and making me aware of its existence)
  24. Nice one! Sticking with Mr. Anthony Braxton for the moment: SIX COMPOSITIONS: QUARTET - Antilles LP- Anthony Braxton (as, ts, B-flat soprano, E-flat soprano, contrabass cl, Anthony Davis (p), Mark Helias (b), Ed Blackwell (d). back at ya with for that Braxton
