  1. Man, I am listening at the moment. LOTS of musical information here, but so far I am generally really diggin it. Where is the offshoot thread? I wouldn't mind getting others' thoughts after I've basked in this one a bit.
  2. Yeah, that was a bit knee-jerky and nutty on his part. However, if you will allow some momentary devil's advocacy: It could read as sarcasm on your part as this IS essentially www.organissimo.org, and sarcasm was the tenor of this thread pretty early on. If that makes sense. No offense intended, just reflecting on the whole thing. And you are right, he should check out organissimo the band!
  3. Not sure I see it as spam there either... (liketowatch's contribution anyhow). But I've been wrong before. Nevetheless, it seems some generous, "benefit of doubt" could be cool. Even if just for the benefit of any other lurkers trying to sense the water. Seems only a handful of folks here set the tenor, yet there appears to be many many more registered folks not really participating. Just an observation. Not an indictment. I've read some really amazing and informative posts here on the forum, btw. And Spam or not, I just bought a really cool record because of it. Now to piss Jim off... I forgot to use the link here on the organissimo forum (that helps the forum maintain)... dang it. (got it off itunes) Anyhow, I am going to go back to what I do best. Lurk and shake my head at you nutballs.
  4. Just downloaded the new one, sounds pretty sweet thus far. Btw, Joe, congrats on the recent radio success!! 2009 is goin' to be your year! I'm sure of it brother. Anyhow, I hope this was really spam and not just a new guy who actually signed up a while ago and may have been just looking for the courage to jump in. You all can be a tough bunch... (you know I love ya man).
  5. Well, all of you but me...dang it. I should drink my morning coffee before pontificating here.
  6. You are slippin' Greg. Aggie addressed that back in post 12. Yeah, but only ONE of ya? Seriously, Gentile Giant is funny... to me
  7. BTW, I was just scopin' out the new Garaj Mahal and it does kick serious butt, fwiw and imho!
  8. Sorry ADHD alert: Have you heard Taj's new one?? Maestro is kickin serious butt! Anyhow, how come none of our resident smart-asses commented on "Gentile Giant" ??? You guys are slippin' Liketowatch, these guys may be kneejerkin' to what they believe is "spam," or they are right on the mark. Not entirely sure that you are spammin' as my secret decoder ring has been on the fritz. On the off chance that you are not, I apologize for these clowns. But seriously, most of these guys are pretty cool and very well informed. If you are truly here for some info, please stick around. If you are "spammin," well there's the do'.

Or were you one of the audience members for either Root Doctor concert last year at the Cadillac Club in The Deville Room? Well, Good News, Root Doctor: Live At The Cadillac Club is scheduled for national release on Oct 1st, 2008! Completely mixed and mastered this cd is heading out for duplication in just a few short weeks, and we are now accepting pre-orders. Recorded during support for the award winning Been A Long Time Coming and in prep for it's follow up success of Change Our Ways, LIVE AT THE CADILLAC CLUB, comes with three previously unreleased tracks and several Root Doctor show stopping staples in tow. As bonuses, The Motor City Horns appear on three tracks, guitarist Greg Nagy sings and plays a show-stoppin' slow blues and organist Jim Alfredson and the band deliver a reading of the classic Booker T tune, Hip Hug Her that has had youtube hopping and is bound to become a classic in its own right. 19. I don't consider myself to be a music snob at all.... but holy crap, I just got a taste of Hell! My favorite comment: falkhytten (1 month ago) Show Hide 0 Poor comment Good comment Marked as spam Reply | Spam AC/DC should sue them. Awful cover!
  20. I am very intrigued by this one... I dig what you are saying about capturing actual performance rather than merely constructed one. Also a Waits fan.
  21. Hey Dick, there is also a Hammond Zone sub forum here! Great to see you in these here parts. g
  22. I was mixing... you were playing around with the laptop.
  23. Listening to the final Glenn Brown mastering job.... And in my ever obsessive nature I am comparing it to all sorts of major label releases. Jim and I spent hours upon hours getting sounds right in his basement studio, but I never imagined that the end product would surpass, to such a grand extent, what we got in a world class studio with previous projects. That is, this record sounds better than the last two both musically AND in terms of sound quality. The last two were completely recorded in a very serious studio. This one was tracked in a basement, and done old school with no headphones and with eye to eye contact. The vibe and the sonic quality is all there. I truly believe this is the record that is going to break organissimo through... yeah, it means Root Doctor will likely need another organist but we'll get by. I am just very excited for Jim and the boys. They worked so freakin hard to get to this point. ...has all the markings of a future classic. The samples don't even come close to doing the full disc justice. Amazing piece of work! Congrats Jim, Joe, and Randy. You cats should be proud. g
  24. The cover will stand out, just as the music does (been listening critically to these tracks for months now). In my estimation, this is the best organissimo release to date. The boys got some serious soul and vibe goin' on this one.
  25. Very well put.
