  1. The Fender Squires are great for the price. You may need to get the intonation and action adjusted, but they are very playable guitars. g

  4. Wendy is good people. She introduced Root Doctor on the Chase Stage at The Detroit Jazz Festival and has become a good friend to both bands. And WEMU just reported the new Root Doctor cd at number 2 for the month of October to Living Blues! p.s. WEMU has proclaimed Root Doctor's tune "The Blues Will Take Good Care of You" as the station blues anthem (ya Jim wrote that puppy as well).
  5. Well, it's not very hard to do, that's for sure. And audiences do seem to like it (because it's an easy way to create tension as mentioned). I would consider it part of showmanship. When I hear it done on a live recording I can excuse it, but on a studio record it's a bit cliche. Unless you do it with your...
  6. Thanks Allen! I have a reissue Fender Bassman with a tube rectifier etc...and it sounds quite good. However, I imagine some old tubes would put it over the top... I hate to spend too much on gear, but this does sound like a good thing to check out. Especially with all the recording I've got comin up. g p.s. I should probably check with you before I bid...hate to go up against ya.
  7. Yep, I can see it http://www.tubedepot.com/nos-12ax7-telesp.html Holy smokes! They better sound mind blowin' for that price... Don't get me wrong, if I could find some at a reasonable price, I'd check it out. But at that rate, I would have a grand into tubes (per guitar amp) in no time...
  8. I am not so sure about that...could be half technique... wait, what was the question... I once saw Jim A pick up Randy (his drummer) and drag him across the keys...that was awesome! Nice percussive technique... (I should sleep more)
  9. Dang Joe this is terrible. Hope you are o.k. g
  10. Thanks to Jim the Big O Records Store is now open.. http://www.big-o-records.com/catalog/index.php
  11. We worked very hard on this one and it is now starting to get some national airplay. Here is just one of the early reviews: "...I really like it [Change Our Ways]. The musical setting is really tasty and better than just solid, a sweet churchy/bluesy R & B sound. I especially like the title tune...It's an excellent CD..." Dick Shurman Producer and Historian (Albert Collins, Johnny Winter, Robert Cray, etc..)
  12. I am very intrigued by this model. Great thread.
  13. Well, I'm now finally past dealing with personal stuff and can get back to reissues. The first half of the new year should produce "Nonaah" (with some new material added), "Saga of the Outlaws", Wadada Leo Smith's "Spirit Catcher" and one or two others. That sounds great! I am still diggin the discs I got from you a while back.
  14. Man, about two-thirds into it she starts giving him a lap dance....OH YEAH BABY!!!
  15. Yes, I know you were very attracted to it. Dont' be so cheeky, Greg! Cheeky! Oh man...
  16. Yes, I know you were very attracted to it.
  17. Jimmy can sing and play..but the boy can't dance.
  18. Jim singing his butt off! Please forgive this indulgence...but you all got to hear our fine host sing. Check out "People Say" on the Motor City Horns myspace page. Didn't mean to out you here, but it was bound to come out sooner or later.
  19. Just saw this; I've been working on some other graphic stuff, but as soon as that is done I will design something for the live tracks. I also need to see if the board "tape" I got from the Detroit Jazz Festival this weekend is usable. If so, I'll probably put that one up on the website as well. It is usable if you are a guitar freak...lol, which I am, so give me a copy b&*ch. LOL
