  1. pretty damn good cover if you ask me
  2. Savoy AMG lists the Sonny Red connection as BN, the Art Pepper one as Savoy. Good work! the disk has several sessions by Art Pepper and one by Sonny (Red) Kyner. here's a run down: 1 Art Pepper - Deep purple (1954.08.25) Art Pepper, as; Jack Monterose, ts; Claude Williamson, p; Monte Budwig, b; Larry Bunker, ds; 2 Sonny Red - Watkins productsns (1957.11.12) Sonny Redd, as; Pepper Adams, bs; Wynton Kelly, p; Doug Watkins, b; Elvin Jones, ds; 3 Art Pepper - Everything happens to me (1952.10.08) Art Pepper, as; Russ Freeman, p; Bob Whitlock, b; Bobby White, ds; 4 Sonny Red - Redds head (date and personnel as 2) 5 Art Pepper - These foolish things (1952.03.04) Art Pepper, as; Hampton Hawed, p; Joe Mondragon, b; Larry Bunker, ds; 6 Art Pepper - What's new (date and personnel as 1)
  3. Hell, I'll take Sophia over Bridget then! Hell, I'd take either back in their prime....I'm not picky! :rsmile: so would you consider to get rid of los bounces and put a (non-animated) pic of either or both of these ladies in your avatar then?* *just a Q, no value statement
  4. I would like to hold that original LP in my mits! that cover is WEIRD! get a guy to climb up a monument and pose a lady in excruciatingly contrasting dress beneath as if in crucifiction. THEN use the colour of her dress (silk then pink to hurt eye) for lettering AND the colour of his outfit (denim then light blue) for other letters and make it all stunningly bright and frame it in BLACK. Woa. mine's cool and easy, I like it a lot (wouldn't have made it if not), but DAMN, that original is a STUNNER! (I bet, never seen it in real size) mine's too relaxed for the music. There's more going on than a couple of guys playing whist in front of some egypt monument ... So: if anyone has this damn beaut of an LP in his or her posession and/or has the possibility to provide a hi-Q colour scan/pic: please do so, you will have my gratitude.
  5. runs great here. just like that new local weizen beer runs down the throat yumyumyum
  6. The polls closed early in FLORIDA! Doesn't every vote count? not sure yet. we're recounting the votes on that. stay tuned.
  7. before I got a decent B&W copy of this one I made myself an alternative cover that looked like this:
  8. great thread, really ubu I'm afraid it is a typical OrgBB thread. Or am I not afraid? I am too lazy to care and blame catesta.
  9. too much spare time
  10. yeah, all dutch look like that. If they do not look like this of course: and all day long they do nothing but eat raw herring w/ onions... it's like the swiss all talk too slowly and eat smelly cheese all day funny you should mention Hans, check the properties of that pic w/ the 2 guys...
  11. 3 cakes, total of 72 candles with love from maren & couw
  12. Misirlou for guitar and mixer (4MB WMV)
  13. my guess is people were merely posting her pics because they didn't realise she's still around an active (albeit on a very different front). It is of course a more than a mild surprise to suddenly come across one of her more recent pics when accustomed to the blond beaut (if taste allows). Irony, probably yes, but not malignant I am sure. BB's current political views are more than just a little malignant though... brownie: how serious are people taking her political outings anyway? Is she just an ancient enfant de la nation who is allowed to say whatever she likes and no one really pays attention, or is it more serious?
  14. thanks vint, that's much better...
  15. There's that Hank Mobley tune "Chain Reaction" on SNF, which according to the liner notes is "extremely close to John Coltrane's 'Impressions' (which itself was taken from Morton Gould's 'Pavanne')." That's a double-take it seems. There's many more but I tend to forget (old age), good thing you started this thread.
  16. I knew you would be impressed...
  17. scare them newbies a bit! heheheheh... the board make you go creazzzzy!
  18. you mean anyone actually reads the crap I write here cool catch! I didn't mention these just for the heck of it. Drew is really good IMO.
  19. She is; she's really nasty. BB is a staunch supporter of extreme right-wing French politician Jean-Marie Le Pen. She is indeed. She really is. But I'm weak, really weak. Caught the other day an early film of her 'La Lumiere d'En Face', made in 1955 when she was 21. The film is pretty bad but Brigitte (or Brijou as she is often called here) was stunning. Beautiful. To die for. I can't ignore her extreme rightwing politics. But I'm weak and I forgive her when I remember how wonderful she was in her prime... In my opinion her (former) looks don't excuse her fascist political ideas. when Hans is right, Hans is right (not extreme right of course!!!)
  20. Who's PFUNK? Did anyone notice: despite some small apostrophic flukes and way too many CAPITAL letters, this must have been Aric's best spelled post thus far. Way to go... Shouldn't someone be mentioning money jungle real soon now?
  21. the European distribution centre has just received the goods and is moving the goods onward tomorrow. Our diligent customs service opened the package and checked each and every disk. I hope they enjoyed it.
  22. oh your right! that explains all the bizarre spam i receive!! i initially misspelled "brobblops" with only one 'p' in deference to the deutsch derivative from whence it comes. cool beans! that's a genyoowine google-whack!
  23. patient: Doctor I got hit by two-twenty*! doctor: what?! patient: no, Volt! ka-ching! *insert voltage applicable to your country
