  1. I could probably find it out, but I am too lazy to do a search
  2. aren't you supposed to be drunk, ralleying through birthday cakes?
  3. artists alphabetical (numbers go before A) according to last name, then first name there is a category various artists that goes in at V. within artist, according to recording date of the first date on the disk. boxed sets are kept in their own order are put in jewel cases and are integrated with the rest. should it get out of hand moving it all when new purchases need to be put in their rightful place, I will opt for eiter chaos or order of acquisition. Each one will get a number and there will be a catalogue to allow me to find things. The latter works well for classical BTW, where you often have various composers or performers on one disk. Either way: there is serendipity and serendipity rules.
  4. keeping my eyes open for Evan (as promised) LOOK EVAN! A KIRK SET!
  5. & chances of that increase if he starts drinking a day early!
  6. people, the guy doesn't have his birthday until tomorrow! relax! sit back, enjoy the scenery. Rest. Tomorrow's party is going to be very.... well, just very!
  7. good luck
  8. trumpet summit on pablo features 3 trumpets. more than you asked for I know. it's a nice but far from essential live outing with 4 tunes.
  9. hmm. I guess I'm with Hans on this one. I have never really warmed to Osby's playing. Way too cold for my tastes. I'll be off now, you may pretend I was never here and I promise I will not start a thread "why I hate Greg Osby."
  10. listening to this right now. verrrry nice! Konitz is weaving his story lines around Solal's inobtrusive piano. There is a whole lot going on and it is really rewarding to listen with ears wide open. On the other hand, my attention has been wandering now and then (nothing to do with the music, but with my multi-tasking here) and it's really nice to have it in the background as well. I am no expert on either artist, but I'd say Konitz is having a great day. Both of them are actually and the way these guys bounce the ideas around is, well
  11. I picked this one up at zweitausendeins (still available for 5 EUR there) a while ago and will need to give it a spin again before I can pass a verdict. In my memory it stood out as a rather intense yet laid back affair.
  12. amazon.de has B&W covers pity if this is how they will look
  13. you know what they say about detroit... detroit 1 detroit 2 but of course... it could be worse
  14. Braith and his double horn
  15. I see you have your LPs alphabetically ordered as well. The Coltrane Impulses give it away. You can see the same lot of orange/black (with one white/black) spines in my CD rack.
  16. thanks for the info Mike (and the link!) considering these are packaged very nicely and sound great, I am not going to mourn that there's only one LP on each disk. I have found this a very interesting series of reissues. I have kept away from the 70s stuff as the whole fusion angle MPS took then doesn't rock my boat. Good music for sure, but I'd rather listen to the 50s and 60s albums.
  17. as for those Koller disks: www.zweitausendeins.de offers them for 7.49EUR. (< $10). I believe shipping to the US is rather steep (22 EUR), but if you pick up a larger number of titles it may become interesting, expecially considering their low prices. Maybe one of us Germans should buy a truckload and distribute them.
  18. they not only LOOK interesting, they have some DAMN FINE music on them... the new batch promises to be interesting. when were these recorded Mike?
  19. I gather you STILL haven't picked up the Valdo Williams on Savoy? Remember this thread? Wouldn't know why this sort of thing wasn't recorded more often. Maybe the obscurity of a player like Williams -- this is a fabulous album that deserves to be better known -- is a general sign of those times.
  20. this is from some time ago. A third rack is on its way. this site has pictures of collections. Some very ordered, some rather messy. Some HUGE, some not so big. I sent in above pic, you can find it under the July 2003 listing.
  21. better put something in your stomach before you drink more schnapps. with love from maren & couw
  22. best thing is, where is may cost you a new key board, it costs me only a couple of clicks. really folks: this kind of thing is VERY easy using ImageReady.
