  1. Well you know there is a Wolff on this board but I'm pretty sure he never said this. thank you very much mr arm for putting things back into perspective. wannabeer?
  2. I like this piece best. It reminds me I am probably not the only one with alcoholic tendencies on this board...
  3. with love, maren & couw as your birthdays are getting shorter everyday, we decided against cake today. You need to digest befor you hit the sheets!
  4. A kind boardmember made me a dub of that album. Rather nice, full arrangements played by an augmented band. I have been wanting to pull this one out again after I saw this thread.
  5. I remember Chuck mentioning something to this effect related to the Diz/Bird tapes he's working on now. There was Garner material from the same concert, but the family would not consent on issuing it.
  6. hey, if you get a kick out of that kinda thing, howzabout I send you one of my shirts for $12 shipping?
  7. yeah well, here too this set seems to be very much sought after; I cannot imagine why else prices would be so insanely high. I found some offers for 250$, cheapest was 125$ I believe. The price for a new set was what? 50$?
  8. like this one you mean? Yeh I have seen that one but we could do with one with all rare or special issues or alternaitve covers like all the japanese ones and the weird late 60's ones etc Anyway cheers for the reminder the site linked was recently updated and some of the stuff you mention can be found there now. You have to look around as they new additions seem to have been made rather arbitrarily (i.e. not necessarily under the header you'd expect them to be)
  9. like this one you mean?
  10. none of the samples seem to work for me. and sometimes they show, sometimes they don't
  11. That would be cool. (so we now what we missed out on... ) I just found back your post from feb 20 in this very thread (link), which shows some of what I was thinking of. I think I mixed this up with some linernotes I read recently of a completely unrelated CD. Sorry for that, but please, do bring it on Chuck!
  12. depends on how much money you want to spend... there's TWO sets available here (one for you, one for me?) If you have the dough to spend, I am willing to take one off your hands (as a gift of course)...
  13. I once stole some CDs from this tenor player who was visiting town, but actually got even more from that drummer guy... oh, wait, that's not what this is about is it?
  14. Doesn't that depend on: this this this and this sure, but those are all neighbOrs, I was talking about neighbOUrs! I don't have either of those (I have Nachbarn), but I wouldn't kill them either my advice: just get the disk, it's cheap, play it, then dig it or dump it.
  15. Monk, although I rarely have a clue WHICH tune it is exactly.
  16. eh! Valdo is COOL! B) seriously, the Klemmer LPR is very nice. Nothing like the latter carreer New Age blahblah (of which I didn't even know myself until much later). half of the tracks feature a tenor/guitar quartet and really stand out (as mgraham pointed out). Nothing to kill your neighbours over fer sure, but a hell of a nice disk to spin every now and then.
  17. That recording of "Good One" was recorded after a couple of versions of "A Time For Love", as indicated by the take numbers. Lou simply stayed on the Rhodes for take 9. was there a run down on this on this thread or somewhere closeby? I can't seem to find it now. I hope it's part of the linernotes.
  18. Now now, couw............let's take the high road and stop all this unnecessary gloating, shall we? B) just joking!
  19. You got that right! The first time I heard it, years ago, I did a double-take because it sounded like he was playing alongside a tenor sax. Haunting indeed! Poor Eric is fabulous. As much criticism one might have about bowed bass (at least this one is in tune), it does the trick here, doesn't it? Damn great, not intrusive, but very much essential to the overall sound.
  20. sssst! I was secretly looking too!
  21. reply: give me your one sentence definition of pop/rock/blues/classic/whatever and then we'll talk. if the answer is a lot of erms and ahs, play some music to kill the time waiting; preferably some jazz.
