I'd say you're right and I'd say it's Alfred Lion's birthplace Gotenstraße 7, Berlin Impressive elementary: recognise the street signs and general atmosphere, verify by the white licenceplates (front and back) and the yuro cars (VW Golf and some french ditty), go to google and type in "geburtshaus" "berlin" "jazz" and find the second hit leading to a wikipedia article on the man...

  9. A kind sould wanted to be kind and gave me a pair as a gift. They received the radio from the neighbours on the right and when I switched to the other channel, I could listen in on the mobile phone from the neighbours on the left. Although I was tempted to keep 'em just for the juicy details from the left, I got rid of them as the constant hum was making my ears bleed. The kind soul was kind about it.

  12. Besides the early Gillespie big band recordings, there are live/radio recordings of this tune with Lee in Blakey's band from the late 50s/early 60s. Some of which have been released on various labels. The Paris Champs-Elysées 1958 (Fontana/JiP) and Olympia 1961 (RTE Laserlight) are freely available. edit: johnagrandy beat me to it.
