yes, because that's Ted Curson and he ain't featured. Trzaskowski (center) is.
thanks for the ideas and effort and get well soon!
BTW: I just added 12 minutes of fabulous stuff to the 40+ minutes I already had. This thing is ready to be sequenced and go into production! yay!
you mean the B&W ones with the single colour support (link)? Much like some of those Brasilian ditties linked above. Yes, that was the other general idea I had. This one is closer to the GDR comp already made. Thing is, these are all from earlier disks. I believe Polish Jazz went the 12" LP-with-singular-cover-design route in 1965. Before that all was packed in (pretty cool) generic factory covers with all the info printed on the label. Also cool btw...
more nice stuff folks
I have been going through my Polish EPs and 10" LPs looking for items that may produce a nice comp of these obscurities. First trial for some cover art is also done. Not quite satisfied.
deus, maybe you want to have a go at it? It's all stuff from the late 50s/early 60s. You have already heard some of it.
still from a 1965 performance with Johnny Griffin, Ronnie Scott, Hans Koller, Ronnie Ross, and Wes Montgomery. Not in the pic: Martial Solal, Michel Gaudry, and Ronnie Stephenson.
my Farlow set just arrived from Caiman, it took two weeks to arrive. The best part is that there is a sticker on the shrinkwrap telling me this was made in Germany. Once around the world and still dirt cheap. The "private" amazon sellers seem to have raised its price on this set to 70+ EUR BTW.
1956, Lucky Thompson records 8 in Paris released in the EMI Americans Swingin in Paris series
1961, Junir Mance - At The Village Vanguard (Jazzland)
1985, Blue Note Relaunch Townhall Concert
What an INTERESTING result this link now produces!
"Hard", yes, but hardly Latin!
fegh man, this stuff is pretty ... please help me out here, I cannot quite find the word...
hmm, I have used the Nero normalisation feature only once and ended up with a bunch of distortion, notably on fierce trumpet lines. So I get the one bad performance and Marty gets all those swell ones.
1978, Count Basie and Oscar Peterson record 3 albums for Pablo: Yessir That's My Baby, The Timekeepers, Night Riders. The session is continued into the next day.
1980, Jack Sheldon & His Westcoast Friends - Angel Wings. w/ Art Pepper; ctd the next day
check out some of the Polskie Nagrania designs (me tired, you google) or have a glance at those Brasilian designs here: http://www.sabadabada.com/new_page_2.htm
Don't know about the UStates, but Robeson was celebrated as a hero of the people in the former socialist states. You will run across plenty of his LPs pressend in the GDR, Poland and Russia when going through the bins here.
