  6. obsessively impressive! Not sure whether these fit, but... Not the entire album, but some of the "bonus material" tucked in a nice cover: Then there's this one: edit: I see you got these covered already... of course...
  7. OK, now I'm really confused. The only EU reissues I'm aware of are from what's called the "Warner Jazz Masters Series". I don't know if they're digipacks, but from the advertisements I've seen in Jazz Review (UK magazine), these reissues all have a vertical black spine on the front with 'Atlantic Masters' written on the spine. Are these the same ones ones reissued in Germany? I'm really interested in picking up Blue Lateef and some others, but the number of reissues of these, including Rhino, Collectables etc. is confusing. it IS confusing. The ones with the black spine come in both digipac and jewel case. Same with the ones with the red spine and the "interesting" peach/red design in the "Atlantic Original Sound" series. These used to be digipacs, but now also jewel cases have surfaced in my collection. There was at least one batch of Atlantic material on the Rhino/Warner label that came in clear jewel cases and had a black "spine" just like you described, but it is part of the tray card and can be seen through the clear jewel case inlay. The actual spine is very classy, without the usual shouting bold fonts. If you go to the site linked above and click reissues, you can find these under the 27 10 2003 release date. Although these were released under Rhino, they were not available in the US AFAIK. At least I remember US members ordering the Fathead from EU stores. Whether there were any other batches is a mystery to me as I cannot judge from the information given either. I wonder how many different series there are really.
  8. the digipacs are okay, not great. The ones I mean came in jewel cases. Included were Bryant, Crawford, Fathead, Stitt, Blue Lateef, Tristano, but also non-Atlantic titles like the Apogee album w/ Christlieb and Marsh and Warm Moods by Webster.
  9. I put it on the "listen to this stuff again"-pile. Those "envelope" type gatefolds are awkward.
  10. I could really do without Nazi references popping up on every odd thread if it were possible. Thank you.
  11. that's Connie Bauer! the others: Ernst-Ludwig "Luten" Petrowsky (ld, as) Herbert Rößner (tp) Peter Setzmann (p) Ulrich Türkowsky (b) Günter "Baby" Sommer (dr)
  12. You mean this guy? No. The baritone guy in this pic: not to derail this thread, I myself had never seen the picture before.
  13. I thought this thread was about Wolf Hudalla
  14. yes, but please note that the drawing is not to scale You sure about that? B-) hmm, whom can we write and ask about that?
  15. *nobody* ?? Well, you're nobody 'til somebody loves you. who's loving the other person to make her/him a somebody instead of a nobody then? that phrase of "wisdom" seems like the ticket to a series of overlapping triangular affairs and worse. It's Sodom & Gomorra all over again.
  16. *nobody* ??
  17. yes, but please note that the drawing is not to scale
  18. Assuming they are the same as those released in Germany in 2003/04, these have EXCELLENT sound.
  19. weren't those Lonnie Liston Smith disco jazz titles reissued by BMG some time ago?
  20. I thought the topic was clear: open. says so in big ass capitals on top of two threads already.
  21. Shit, I thought my embouchure was slack... train them muscles son!
