  1. if the player in your stereo setup is capable of mp3 playback there is no reason to convert them. If your player does not support the format, you will have to convert them IF you want to play them on the player in your main set-up. It is highly likely that if you burn an AUDIO CD using these mp3 files that the burning software will convert the files. Alternatively, you can hook up your computer to your main system and use it as yet another component of your setup. Nice if your want to play around with compilations or want to play a long, prepared list of tunes without having to change the disk all the time.
  2. it can use a better pic, took the first one I found. If you see anything more appropriate, please adjust. Something more artsyfartsy probably

    Andrzej Kurylewicz

These recent reissues on the Polskie Nagrania label have some very nice ones in that euro-hardbop vein. Besides the Kurylewicz mentioned above, there's the Namyslowski and the Trzaskowski disks: Though the Trzaskowski is more "out" and rather fits with the stuff BN put out in the mid and late 60s by the likes of Hancock and Shorter. both highly recommended and available from dustygroove. Also in the same series of recent reissues is the Komeda - Astigmatic album. There is a thread on that one in the Album of the Week forum. The Kurylewicz reminded me somewhat of the Franco Tonani and Giorgio Azzolini disks, Italian hardbop with an edge on the Rearward label.

digging up this ancient thread to tell you all that the Kurylewicz - Go Right album on Polskie Nagrania is absolutely fabulous. this is "da shit" as they say. Utterly strong hardbop date with great diversity. Highly recommended!
