  2. heheheh. It was Mirabassi himself in an introduction to a live performance. He mentioned that he was sorry that his english wasn't very good, and that he was sorry that he was not a pretty girl as people might expect with a name like Gabriele. Pretty funny talker BTW
  3. who is sorry he is not a pretty girl...
  4. there is no website, Caiman is one of the "private" sellers on half.com and amazon.com marketplace. It seems only the Farlow set is available at this low price, the other Mosaic/Verve sets distributed through Universal are all priced as per usual.
  5. 1952, Henri Renaud - New Sound at the "Boeuf sur le toit" (Blue Star/JiParis) 1962, Max Roach - It's Time (Impulse!), 2 tunes 1966, Johnny Hartman - Unforgettable (Impulse!), 4 tunes 1968, Lee Morgan - Taru (Blue Note) 1971, Albert Mangelsdorff - Live in Tokyo (enja/Amiga)
  6. well mike, I am so connected to MY inner rhythm that as soon as the dude on the left starts hammering his thing, I get all quirky because he simply does not hit the thing at the right time or with much of a feewing IMHO. I have no problems whatsoever connecting to more complex rhythms being played, but whatever this person is playing, just doesn't strike me as correct in a couple of places in the first half of the tune. And even if that can be okay at times, it isn't here. Like I wrote, I quite like this tune really and even more after repeated listenings and I have no problem with the percussion being so far up front in the mix.
  7. Cecil Payne also appeared on KD's "Afro Cuban" sessions and he was also present at the Tadd Dameron led date that was released on the Lost Sessions conn.

    HANK ON TV!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's a pic of Hank all on his own in the German film Der frühe Vogel fängt den Wurm by Helge Schneider. It also features a character named Earl Mobileh, undoubtedly in honour of Hank's appearance on the Dizzy Norgran record. Earl Mobileh is more of a cross between Moondoc and Sun Ra though.
  13. Jazz Jamboree 1960 No. 3: The Ptaszyn Wróblewski Quintet and Sextet 45rpm 7" on the Polskie Nagrania label. Naaaaiiisss

  19. Dutch stock is *good* call on your fellow eurobillies if you ever need help pulling in some music from the other shore for your radioshow
  20. a genuine international spirit in the use of the english language is indeed often lacking. but who can blame them hillbillies? B-)
  21. time to rename the thing TubLAX then
  22. I too was wondering whether Rooster smoked the extra half inch of wood that came with the 1"x6" boards to make them only 5½" in the next sentence... B-)
  23. if the player in your stereo setup is capable of mp3 playback there is no reason to convert them. If your player does not support the format, you will have to convert them IF you want to play them on the player in your main set-up. It is highly likely that if you burn an AUDIO CD using these mp3 files that the burning software will convert the files. Alternatively, you can hook up your computer to your main system and use it as yet another component of your setup. Nice if your want to play around with compilations or want to play a long, prepared list of tunes without having to change the disk all the time.
  24. it can use a better pic, took the first one I found. If you see anything more appropriate, please adjust. Something more artsyfartsy probably
