Looking forward to your comments. It's the same CD I have ... and I gave it a solid listen on my Sennheisers again and it is definitely majorly distorted ... especially the first couple of tunes. It could be the original recording, but here I think the mastering is at fault. I don't have time to cross-reference with my pretty extensive Evans collection (I've got work coming out of my ears) ... Cheers!

Would be great if you could do that, because I really think my CD is screwed up. I had that once with another CD which turned to be a faulty first pressing. Cheers!

OK, this one didn't cost me much, but I'm still wondering. This is the 1998 Polygram/Verve digipack edition (taken from the remastered 18-CD Complete Evans on Verve) and maybe it's just me, but is this thing majorly distorted at just about every turn or did I have too much Tanqueray? Ouch.
