  1. Do you keep your Mosaics on some kind of elaborate, candle-lit shrine and feel compelled to genuflect each time you walk past them or something? They're just CDs! I have a shrine for my Mosaics. Man, the candles I've lit there have cost more than what I've spent on those cheapo CDs these past two to ten years.
  2. In my view that's not an excuse not to answer all the messages I sent him over the last few weeks. He was last active on this forum on February 26. Hm. Tjobbe has been one of the most reliable people (no offense to others) that I've met on here. Something must have/might have happened. Hope everything is OK with him.
  3. I'm pretty close to Bingen. Haven't followed your travel plans. If you are actually in the area and are not pulling my leg, contact me. We could have a beer or two if it's on a weekend (late Friday, all of Saturday and Sunday).
  4. Guy, I've always been inbetween. It's my life's story. a) Thanks for all your help in the past. b) I'd take that Complete Dinah Washington off your hands whenever you run out of space. c) I need one copy (=original) of that JiP sampler. If you ever find one, contact me. A complete JiP set gives more head.
  5. No. All you have left is an autobahn without (in many areas) speed limits.....and now the evil EU bureaucrats in Brussels are conspiring to take that away! Sorry, but you got that all wrong: THAT's what I have when things get too bleak ... P.S.: I'm the ONLY German without a driver's license, a car and a mobile phone.
  6. Yo! I'm out of shape, but the form is OK, I think. P.S.: The Count Basie stuff will be resurrected, believe you me.
  7. I'm a civil servant. Hope is all I have left. I'll be patient & thanks a million for even spending the time on trying!
  8. ...we're not necessarily interested in what you drink, but rather if you shave (face, that is) while standing at the wash basin....or in the shower with one of those neat little fogless mirrors? I hate it when those cruddy suction cups weaken and they fall off the wall a) I shave face and I stand at the wash basin (or what's left of it). b) Re: suction cups: [my bathroom] The crocodile falls off all the time. I hate suction cups.
  9. I'm just beginning to, I think. Cheers!
  10. Interestingly enough, last night I just listened to a Harry James Quadromania 4-CD set I bought years ago. It sucks if you own a somewhat audiophile system. Each and every CD has been no-noised to death. Membran has put out some good stuff recently, but these late 90s/early 2000s sets are horrible. Disclaimer: If you just want the music cheap, you play it in the car/on some boom box, or you just want to have a starting reference point, these sets can't be beat. I think I paid a Euro or two for 4 jam-packed CDs with Harry James.
  11. That looks like the bearded mail lady that usually bends the hell out of rare limited editions that she tries to stuff into my mail box. I have a small mail box.
  12. a) It's complicated. I won't elaborate and bore you to death. b) I threw a fit some years ago because of some other idiot(s). c) I've been around since then. d) I'm a reformed ... err ... something (although free jazz is still NOT my thing). I like it here and I want my original moniker back. Jim tried ... and gave up? I love you all. Volkher (deus62/zerotolerance/neveronfriday). P.S.: I drink Cuba Libre exclusively (usually with Cacique (Venezuela) and Coke, not Pepsi). Is that a ticket back in? If not, once a week I drink Dutch Jenever (Jonge Bokma Graan Jenever). I love junk food, although I don't do the Internet porn thing. I shower once a day, minimum. P.S.S.: Jim, is that merge thing a "go" or a "no-go"?
  13. I have: Latin Jazz: The Perfect Combination/La Combinacion Perfecta (Paperback) by Raul Fernandez. I have to admit that I haven't read it yet. It's more the coffee table style book (not size-wise, but content-wise/layout-wise), profusely illustrated. The kind of thing you can browse through quickly. I picked it up for a Euro one or two years ago. Looks nice, but I can't comment on the validity of its content ... at all.
  14. I bought (90s ?) a whole bunch of compilations that all had similar covers like the one below. They all had good to excellent sound and I remember them getting favorable reviews in audiophile mags as well.
  15. He tells me that if there's a free weekend in the package, he's all game.
  16. Photos From that deus62 dude ... [Edit:] He tells me that there's a list here and that sometime this year he'll be finished with a *.pdf listing each and every issue, with covers, session info etc. for everyone to download.
  17. Thanks, Guy. I'll be on the lookout for these.
  18. Sorry, late to the party. A late happy birthday!
  19. Either I'm wrong or I am really too dumb. We used to have a complete list of the Jazz in Paris series here somewhere. From vol. 1 - vol. 100 + something. Am I imagining i? Has anyone bookmarked it? Is this an alternative universe? Hello?
  20. Still haven't heard some of the other one hundred and something CDs. :/ Guy, post here as soon as info becomes available. Looking forward to these.
  21. 2007-4-10: Tord Gustavsen Trio "Being There" Gotta have.
  22. Congrats on a nice site!
  23. Have a nice one!
