  1. Great! Thanks, Flurin.
  2. Thanks, both of you! That'll do info-wise. *hugsandkisses*
  3. Don't worry, most of us here are. Thanks for the info!
  4. You're welcome. I don't think so. At least it wasn't a Norgran date, since that label wasn't founded until 1953. Maybe Norman Granz purchased the recordings, but didn't release them. Anyway, I couldn't find a 1947 Benny Carter date with those song titles. Yeah, thought so. Still, for some reason 1947 keeps poppin' up whenever I try to dig around those squeaky mental drawers of mine. Probably just a misplaced memory. Thanks again! P.S.: Hey, we should really meet sometime, you know, get one of those Paris weekends (or whatever) together with John, Brownie and Mike. S.th. like that. I'd be game. Anytime these next 24 months ... or so. P.S.S.: This whole project made me realize that I have quite a few but not enough Harry "Sweets" Edison dates. Time to go shopping again. *groan*
  5. Just because: I'm ripping and tagging a bunch of small group sessions for my MP3 player, mostly going by the recommendations in this thread: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...;hl=small+group (Thanks for all the recommendations, guys & gals ... they killed my wallet at the time). I think I have 99% of those sessions and many of them I've already listened to a million times, but many others I'm thinking of "studying" these next few weeks. That's what I'm up to, next to hoovering, dish-washing, dusting ... you know, the usual crap one gets stuck with at the weekends.
  6. Thanks, Hans! Could it be that another session happened as early as 1947? I faintly recall s.th. like that. But I'm pretty old, so ...
  7. I'm in a bit of a hurry. Search didn't yield anything ... but I suck at searching here ... :/ Does anyone have the recording dates for the Benny Carter "3, 4, 5: Verve Small Group Sessions" (Verve 849 395-2)? Either I'm blind (possible) or they're not in the liner notes. Thanks & Cheers!
  8. Thanks for trying.
  9. Yep, disclaimer: That's my page.
  10. Thanks everyone! I'm around often but haven't really got the time to post much. Life and all of that ... one year of which has already passed again. Last night I had three wonderful Gin & Tonics on all of you. Again, thanks!
  11. Don't worry. Really. Go for those offers. Unlike all the people falling for the African scams, at least you'll reaaaaaallly have something to show for yourself.
  12. Thanks for all the work and the time your investing. It's gotten to be a fantastic resource that I have consulted many times!
  13. Well, screw it then. You can't say we haven't tried ...
  14. It's 10CDs and I just received confirmation from the same outfit that it might be coming out a few weeks earlier. That doesn't mean it will though, considering the past of this series. Still, the two editors should be allowed all the time in the world ... they are doing lots of people a great service by keeping at it.
  15. Let us know if anything came of it. I read through this thread again this morning and got worried again. Of course, all kinds of things can have gotten in the way (life, and stuff like that), but I have to admit I'm worried mostly because he's disappeared from everywhere else as well. That doesn't make sense at all and isn't like him (at least in regard to how I perceived him through the little contact we've had).
  16. Duh. And I was on there before I posted that today. I'm deaf, dumb and blind. ... and German. What a combination. Thanks for the link. I'll preorder it, especially at that price. Thanks, Guy!
  17. I know I'm overly eager, but if anyone sees an advance notice for the next volume, I'd appreciate a heads up. Should come around September/early October.
  18. Are there any news whatsoever?
  19. Funnily enough, I hit a blank wall (DB error) looking for the lyrics for "East River" by the Brecker Brothers. The only site that had them according to Google was Organissimo. Well, I got them now, posted by: johnagrandy Jul 28 2005, 05:53 AM Cheers ... and off to enjoy 10 days in the sun. Cya all in two weeks or so ...
  20. I have the three Jazz Tribune Twofers (#61, #74 and #78) and love them. I wonder how the Mosaic set will compare and what I might be missing on those RCA discs. I always thought the Jazz tribune series had pretty decent sound. Edit: There are 104 tracks altogether on those twofers, so I guess besides the 10 unreleased tracks mentioned by Mosaic, most of the material should be on there.
  21. Same here, late, but I hope you had a great one!
  22. I tried Safari for Win. What's the point? I'm happy with FireFox, I don't know why Mac even created a copy of Safari for Win. The latest Beta release is much more stable (no more crashing when accessing bookmarks, etc.) but it's still got major flaws (font display on Win, ...). No matter what, if you don't bloat it with extensions, it's the fastest rendering machine out there. I'm a Firefox user and have been ever since version 0.something, but I enjoy having Safari on board, simply because it allows me to test the rendering of web pages with that browser on my Win machine. So, for web developers, having Safari is a great thing.
