Title says it all. Have been looking for this soundtrack for ages and have come up empty again and again. It apparently came and went that time and never really reappeared. I have found single references to it around the globe, but nobody could ever deliver. Does anyone have a clue as to where I could still find a (complete*) copy? *I saw some weird "re-issue" once which was definitely not legit (and not complete).

Title says it all. Is there a way of filtering out results from a certain forum on the todays's active topics list?

Gentlemen, start your bawling!

Very nice. Thanks for posting this. -
Yeah, you may be right, but it's still a sad story. How many people made money off this guy? And did they give a damn what happend to him? And does anyone really care?
-
Sorry, but I don't share some of the sentiment expressed here. I think Tyson is an extremely sad case ... and it seems to be typical for (not only) an American money-making machinery that is just deadly. The system is not difficult: you take a simpleton with an IQ way below average, you milk him for everything he's worth, then you let him run into lots of trouble (that, as far as the various newspages on the Internet tell me on a daily basis, nobody would have given a hoot about had he not been "famous"), and you gleefully watch as the man buries himself. Sickening. And in some ways representative of the society that allows this kind of shite (and thrives on it in many ways). Fire away.

I got this wonderful record (LP) from my dad and it's got my favourite cover as well, one that I haven't seen anywhere else. It's a Philips Microgroove 33 1/2 (B 070 25 L) with a mint-green cover showing a drawing of a bassist, dressed in a graduation outfit, lugging his instrument toward a building which you can see in the distance (there are also three other band members in the distance, closer to the building. Jazz Goes to College, A Campus Concert / The Dave Brubeck Quartet / the titles ... are all done in hand lettering. If I read it correctly, the cover/drawing is by E.W. The cover is not in mint shape, but I'm getting it framed this year (framing can be quite expensive if you want a decent one, so I'm saving ... I don't want one of those made-to-fit LP frames). Even if I seem like a total idiot, I have no idea who made this cover (maybe it was even used for other LPs?), I haven't found it in any of my LP cover books (I have most that were available these past years), and I never once saw it on the Internet. But maybe I also just missed in in my many books? No idea. Does anyone have an idea regarding the origin/artist of/for this cover? P.S.: My dad played the LP so many times that it is pretty flayed

There was just a news piece on one of Germany's biggest news sites about the stunning losses the record majors have managed to accumulate this past year (in Germany). I wonder why? Could it be that they don't give a f*ck about what they're putting out? No "It All Comes Back to You"? Screw them. It's CD-R (still) for me then.

Claude's girlfriend is calling you too? ←

THAT has happened to me too frequently lately.

His daughter is setting up a new and much better website. Coming soon (I hope) to a screen near you ... http://www.edthigpen.com/

These are two Lacys to add to my list, it seems! I have Watson's "Full Metal Quartet" (on Owl, too), with Bennie Wallace, and I love that one! ← And Ed Thigpen, isn't it? I have that one too ...

P.S.: After I don't know how many spins this one got I have to say that the remastering job is not the best. But in this case, I don't care. It's just fun. (P.S.: Or the source material was just not good enough in some respects)

Jazz Studio 1 & 2 on Night Lights
neveronfriday replied to graaspiano's topic in Jazz Radio & Podcasts
Well, it certainly revived mine. There's so much stuff coming out all the time, re-issues right and left, but some people on this board made sure that I take notice. I find myself relying more and more on recommendations here, and these releases of the Jazz Studio and Jazz Lab "series" came highly recommended. I think I might have just missed them, hadn't it been for this board. Sniff around ... there's tons of knowledge here, and a huge group of very knowledgable fans, musicians, writers, etc. -
Hm. This sounds like an excellent release. Is anyone distributing it in Europe? My usual sources came up with zilch (although some Uptown stuff is available). I'm just sick and tired of ordering from the States, which I have done for decades, simply because I now live in an area with the most annoying and atrocious customs office. They just open everything, delay even simple letters, etc. They suck, suck, suck.

Yep, there you go again ...

Jazz Studio 1 & 2 on Night Lights

Welcome! I have to admit I just got into your uncle's music lately, but I love it. http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...&hl=jazz+studio -
The tattoos are one thing... but what's with the nose?? I wouldn't like to be standing anywhere near him when he sneezes! Dat's godda hoit! ← I think there's some sort of built-in venting system. Must be.

Do you think we killed and buried this particular Jazz in Paris thread?

I just tried it, ubu. The first movement was cool (a big fat Universal catalogue), the Mosaics were a bit to thin on the reeds, but when I added the IKEA catalogue, I got those annoying false starts that just didn't seem to work ... I gave up. You guys are still freaks, freaks, FREAKS!
-
No idea, but it sank fast. Har, har, har ...

Albums that must be heard LOUD
neveronfriday replied to White Lightning's topic in Miscellaneous Music
I love listening to the Basie Mosaics really loud. We're talking close-to-brain-hemmorage-loud. You gotta feel that drive. Those bands had a wonderful punch. Favourites when it comes to playing beyond the above-mentioned volume level are "Blues in Hoss Flat", "Corner Pocket", "Jumpin' at the Woodside" and "Battle Royal" from The Count Meets the Duke (Columbia). Those just scream for being played at full throttle. It also silences the neighbours. Yes, that loud. -
You guys are just freaks. Who the hell wants to listen to a CATALOGUE, one tune or not? Jeez, jazz fans. Lunatics.
