I have to agree with Allen. I've just gone through a rather extensive remastering project for which Cedar was used (or better: had to be used) and if used correctly and by someone who knows what he's doing (usually by people who can keep their paws of the EQ, the real problem in today's remastering process), the results can be stunning, especially when we talk about fidelity. Don't knock it until you've seen the right engineers use it.

Cedar sucks because there are too many people to dumb to use it. The software itself is a class act.

Hm. I've been watching this thread for a while and almost guessed that there wouldn't be many posts in it. This one was perhaps not for the Blue Note crowd. If you, like me and some others on the board, have a much larger portion of swing and big band jazz in your collections and are able to live it up to some good Goodman sides on a Friday night (which I regularly do), this piece of news was a bit of a stunner: It just makes you remember that you are in fact listening to historic music. Hardly anyone left. The sections just didn't blow anymore the way they did for Goodman (and some few others). I played my entire Goodman collection these past weeks for another project (and I think I'm up to 70 or 80 discs, all told) and it just all reminded me of how/why I got into this music in the first place. Man, the section with Griffin was a powerhouse. He might not have been great as an individual player, but as a team man together with the aformentioned players, the section burned down the house ... and will continue to do so, no matter who's still around or who isn't. A sad loss for all of us.

Jeez. You guys are freaks. Get a life! It's almost as if Mosaic has taken over your lives, completely. Totally. Irrevocably. Bunch of Mosaic looneys. P.S.: Freaks!

"Sprechen Sie, Krauten Sie, y'all?" Spoken in some grade zilch American WWII wanker film. Shortly thereafter three [or was it four ] Yanks wipe out an entire German batallion. With rifles. -
Yep, and it's got a cool cover as well!

Yes, very, very interesting. Keep 'em coming.

That Chet Baker vol. 8 (Broken Wing from 1976) is a rare item nowadays. Have not seen it in ages and I see those Jazz In Paris CDs all over the record shops. Are you sure the Chet JinP volume you see is not vol. 53 'Chet Baker Plays Standards', the 1956 session? It was left out - the only one - from the massive Jazz in Paris box that had the 75 first volumes from the collection. It was also left out from the collection catalogue. ← I just checked with my second-hand sources. You are right. In the last two months it seems to have gone away. I was told by one place that they have seen several around these past 12 weeks. I got mine over a year ago, as far as I recall, but I have helped a board member find a cheap one (9.99 Euro) about 8 weeks ago, or so. -

There was a second slip-covered set last year ( - 101). A Django Reinhardt (102) was put out after that, plus a Sacha Distel double CD outside of the numbering scheme. The Chet Baker is still readily available (at least was a while ago) all over the place. -
Yep, the two places I shop at a lot also constantly move the jazz section around. It appears as an afterthought, somewhere in the shop, usually next to other sections which aren't remotely related. Online shopping has become the main thing for me, although I'm sure that contributes majorly to the problem you were describing.

No numbness but it is going right down into the family jewels and making them feel like they're in a vice. Very uncomfortable, to say the least. ← Sounds like a nerve to me, albeit a different one than mine. These things, as my doctor told me, feel very much like a slipped disk though (is that what it is called in English??), so it could also be that, sorry to say.
-
Same thing happened to me when I was stupid enough to carry a fridge by myself. Turned out I'd gotten a nerve caught. The pain was as described above. Add to that a numbness I had in my right leg. Any of that on your side (anywhere)? Hope it'll get better soon!
