  1. Check this out: Rasterbator: Standalone ... Get it!
  2. Another one (also needed a drink) ....
  3. Another "cigarette break" version ...
  4. Maybe I should rephrase that: "... having to listen to ..."
  5. Just came across this in an interview in a German drum magazine (Sticks). Apparently, Tico Torres of Bon Jovi played with Miles Davis. In case you are as surprised as me (some of you probably knew this all along, but I'm not such a Davis fan, so ...), here are the facts: Torres, who then called himself Cosmo Jones, was a member of King Curtis, together with Willie Bridges (saxophone), an old friend, and when King Curtis died, Miles Davis took over the band, including the drummer ... today Tico Torres. According to the interview, they got along well together and Torres is still close with Davis' kids today. On top of that, Torres' mentor and drum teacher was Joe Morello. As it happens, Torres was able to fix Morello's roof one day and in return, Morello gave him lessons whenever he wasn't on tour. Another substantial influence seems to have been Elvin Jones, who Torres saw many times, especially keeping an eye on the interplay between Jones and Howard Tiner (keb. & sax). Strange, but listening to Bon Jovi, I can't hear any of that history. Cheers!
  6. Cool. Me thinks there are too many Organissimo members viewing at the moment ... maximum number of streams reached. I'll try to push someone out again. Cheers!
  7. Title says all. Can anyone point me to a good/excellent remaster that includes this track? I've gotten lost in the trillions of reissues, compilations and super trashy cheapo editions. Heeeeeeeeelp! Cheers!
  8. DIE ALREADY!
  9. My mother posts on that OTHER board.
  10. Nice! Just to save a link to some inspiration, I'll place this one here (wonder how long this has been up/will be up): Blue Note Covers Cheers!
  11. Haven't listened to anything else all day. Great stuff! You'll love it. Cheers!
  12. I have a different term for this: computer music. Reason? I have about 200 GByte of music on my PC. That includes St. Germain, Cafe del Mar, various Lounge CDs, and, and and. And that's just one sub-folder of I don't know how many. It's great stuff to do work to because it's smooth and doesn't require any attention (and doesn't distract either), but I would never really burn any of it onto a CD to take next door and listen to on my stereo. If I did, I would permanently expect weird dancers to appear and scantily-clad ladies to float through the room. This place is weird enough as it is, thank you. Cheers!
  13. To me it just sounds like that some people, here or there, just really need to get a life. Jeez, as if there weren't more important things in the world than heckling about which website, where, with whom and why not, how often ... again, and again, and again. Cheers!
  14. I like John's best. Great idea! Take that one (if you haven't already). Cheers!
  15. Two VERY quick shots: 01:
  16. Thanks, Dr. Funkenstein. Cheers!
  17. Interesting Link: V-Discs: Overview
  18. BTW: I do know about V-Discs, but obviously not nearly enough. I'm reading up on it now. But, I'd still like to know sth about this Milan label. Seems to be a legitimate if distributed through BMG?
  19. Well, I picked these up in a shop around the corner, 4-CD box (4th disc has some Charles deGaulle speeches etc. on it), shrink-wrapped for 3 Euro. Before I actually listen to them, here the details: These are the contents: V.A. The V-Discs-Collection. Editions Milan Music (distrib. by BMG). France 1995. Disc 01: The Big Bands a) Count Basie (4 tunes) b) Duke Ellington (3 tunes) c) Benny Carter (2 tunes) d) Lionel Hampton (2 tunes) e) Jimmie Lunceford (1 tune) Disc 02: The Combos and The Soloists a) Combos (Hot Lips Page; Louis Armstrong; Nat King Cole; etc.) b) The Soloists (Coleman Hawkins; Fats Waller; Art Tatum; Earl Hines, Lionel Hampton) Disc 03: The Singers a) Armstrong (3 tunes) b) Holiday (1 tune) c) Jordan (3 tunes) d) Ada Brown (1 tune) e) Jimmy Rushing (3 tunes) f) Fats Waller (1 tune) Disc 04: Documents "Discours du Général Leclerc, du Général de Gaulle, Communiqués des radios, Marche de la deuxiéme D.B.) A first listen shows that the sound is really not all that bad. Are these some rip-off production? Does anyone know anything about this box? Internet info is, to say the least, sparse ( or in French, which basically means the same to me ) The thing looks sth like this (not quite, but almost). Cheers!
  20. Let me know if you want to use it/have it tweaked or if we just leave it here for posterity (or for my own later use). Am going to go and listen to Farlow, Farlow, Farlow. Cheers!
  21. My Tal Farlow arrived today. In perfect shape. Cheers!
