  1. Many happy returns, sir!

  3. It's the longer take of 'Jean Pierre' from We Want Miles that is from the Tokyo concert. IIRC, the TV footage of the Tokyo gig has Miles looking very frail indeed. It's a miracle he could even play at all. The band cooks, though.
  4. I have the Horace. Picture and sound is average for a 1970's TV recording. No high production values, but nothing that'll prevent your enjoyment, either. Performance is pretty good IIRC (haven't watched it in a while) and it's certainly interesting to see Harrell (Berg is no slouch, either). Worth having.
  5. This is very sad news indeed. RIP Derek.
  6. Getting ready for dinner while having my first listen to the organissimo Christmas CD. Big This may be the first version of 'Little Drummer Boy' I've ever actually liked. That groove kills.
  7. I believe there were more recordings that haven't been issued due to technical problems.
  8. Read much, but not many books.
  9. UK release date is still January 30th! Let's hope the temptation to buy an import doesn't prove too strong to resist...
  10. Someone hid it between the Kenny G CDs

  12. I have the Brownie and it's a beaut. There's quite a bit of alternate takes and two discs have a loose, enjoyable (if hardly essential) jam session with Dinah Washington, but so much of what's there is so top-notch that it's hard to gripe; all the stuff with Max Roach, the albums with Sarah Vaughan and Helen Merrill and Brownie's with-strings date- all superb.
  13. Works for me. Me too!
  14. I felt that was close earlier...
  15. You have got to be kidding me!
  16. I can't even bring myself to listen to music today
  17. Standing up is not an option.
  18. Been trying. Head pounding too much.
  19. You don't want to know why I'm asking. Really!
  20. Here we come, Politics Forum!
  21. But.... this version is 'Complete'! Maybe I'm wrong, but in the past I'm sure I've seen that the remastering itself was subject to copyright... Even if the original recordings have elapsed, does Ted Kendall's work have some kind of legal protection?
  22. A friend (and occasional drummer) of mine posted me an e-Christmas card. Reproduced here: From ME (the wishor) to you (the wishee) Please accept without obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, politically correct, low stress non addictive, gender neutral, celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practised within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular tradition at all. 23. Don't know of any detailed discographies, but this listing (from our friend Michael Fitzgerald's site) might be helpful: http://www.jazzdiscography.com/Labels/contemp.htm http://www.jazzdiscography.com/Labels/contemp2.htm
