  1. This evening will be going to The Century Room to hear alto sax player Tim Green perform with the University of Arizona Jazz Band.
  2. It was about 20 years ago when I was at a weekend jazz event in California.Rein De Graaf was attending the event as a listener, but not scheduled to perform. My good friend (the late) George Ziskind ,a fine jazz pianist ,located a room with a piano and wanted to play a bit just to keep his chops in shape. As he began to play in this mostly empty room, Rein De Graaff walked in and asked if he could also play. So for about one hour George and Rein alternated at the piano, each playing 2 tunes each time around. It was a reat treat for me to have the opportunity to hear two very good jazz pianists. They both enjoyed it so much, that they agreed to do it again the next morning. So this was a second morning that I had a wonderful listening experience. Rein De Graaf is very much a BEBOP oriented musician. He played many tunes those 2 morning out of the "bebop" playbook. Tunes by Bird, Monk, Tadd and others.
  3. A European friend who ( I believe) was at the Webster/Byas recording session told me that the 2 tenor men were so drunk that the music was way way below an acceptable level. We should also remember that there are many many many high quality recordings by both Webster and Byas.
  4. Many years ago, I wanted to get Bird albums with all the alternative tracks included. Now many decades later, I much prefer to listen to Bird (and others) without all the numerous alternate tracks one after another. Yes, it is possible on CDs to program things to only listen to one track for each tune. But that becomes somewhat of a hassle when you just want to sit down and enjoy the music.
  5. EKE BBB I am only missing the 2 Colpix Bossa Nova albums from your list. As I recall, they were not PRIME examples of Zoot.
