    Pete Cosey

i've been reading some miles bios, and for a guy who couldn't construct a guitar solo to save his life, cosey is pretty full of himself in interviews. "dozens of tunings, one of which hendrix adapted", he didn't want to discuss his playing too much because he was writing a book about it (that was in the 80's). imo, just about the only moments that the 1972-75 guitarists sound good, is when they're playing behind miles. most of the time, as soon as miles' solo is over, the band falls apart until miles' re-entry. but sometimes the 2 guitarists do lock into a nice groove. reggie lucas deserves most of the credit for that.
  4. sounds like the interview that albertson is sitting on will be lost just like the christmas carol and the Bob Laurence interview. great stories though. so much better reading them from you than listening to the actual recordings.
  5. the track timings of ESP cd 1029 'Charles Tyler Ensemble' are off as well. there are probably timing problems throughout the esp catalog.
  6. thanks
  7. does one of the tracks (track 2?) start with a couple of seconds of a solo bass clarinet?
  8. can someone confirm that the track timings of the ESP cd Marzette Watts And Company esp 1044 are: 18m, 6m, and 13m, not 18, 8, 7 as listed on the esp site, and allmusic. thanks
  9. i'm looking for some live shows by byard lancaster, and arthur blythe. pre-mid 80's.
  10. 'I want to talk about you' and 'Misty'. i think that Rahsaan Roland Kirk usually played a hybrid of the two, as on the official montreux '72 video.

  18. those samples on cduniverse and allmusic do not correspond to the correct track order. i think the 'bonus tracks' are Aluminum Baby Step Right Up water probably copied label m, and the problem arose when >>LABELM split Here Comes The Whistleman and I Wished Upon The Moon into 2 tracks each because of the intro.>>> problem solved.
  19. i was told that there aren't any bonus tracks on the label m reissue. allmusic lists 2 extra tracks with audio samples. it's hard to tell what tunes these are, but a discographer says 'no'. can anyone confirm?
