  1. just to clarify, the company was not selling the episodes. maybe for festival showings, etc.
  2. yes, it's the same soul tv shows. net-tv, nyc. hosted by Ellis Haizlip. a company had acquired all the episodes, and had like 20-30 listed on their webiste, with details for each show. it was mostly soul music, but quite a bit of jazz episodes as well.
  3. i have a couple of questions. there was a weblink of a library, or organization that had all the nyc net 'soul tv' shows listed from the 60's/70's. can anyone supply that link. also, does the drummer bob moses hum along to his playing sometimes, kind of like bud powell. thanks
  4. Italian triple LP set, "Don Ayler in Florence 1981" i would like to trade for cdr's of these if anyone has them. thanks

  6. it discussed him in general, and his own lp releases. i thought that i saw it at the ayler site www.ayler.supanet.com/ mirror http://ayler0.tripod.com but i can't find it. thanks, len

  8. l p, so you have watched every British comedy series have you? >>> no, but i've given several a chance, including obscure john cleese short films (which are great). 'young ones' is just that - for young ones. i can't see a 40-50 year old person admiring that show. i will check out 'Absolutely Fabulous'. a big problem with 'the office' is that half of it is just filler. when david brent is not on screen, there is no comedy. gareth sometimes picks up the slack, but rarely.
  9. Yeah, limited, or no taste. I see you've not changed a bit. Still think the white man can't play jazz, Jaco being the exception of course.
  10. Are you crazy? no, it's called having taste. now go back to listening to your stan getz and zoot sims. of course people will say 'monty python'. well, out of like a 2-3 hour tape of skits, you'll get one or two good skits. those are not good odds. but you, catesta, are probably talking about the show that's on all the time on pbs late night. department store, all old people working there, the women wearing various colored wigs. funny stuff?
  11. That explains it. i knew angry's puppydog catesta wouldn't be too far behind in this thread. catesta, don't you get tired of kissing that guy's ass? btw, i have confirmation from an old thread about the foreigner songs. roll your eyes until they fall out.
  12. i could live without Atlantis circa 1967-1969. from moudry discography: these are nice 1969/70. dates are not exact. My Brother the Wind Volume II The Night of the Purple Moon is probably 1970, but maybe 1969 The Solar-Myth Approach half of Space Probe is 69-70 for more correct info, you'd have to get the earthly recordings vol 2 discography. 1967/68 and earlier is totally different sun ra. it's not anything like the peak years (imo) of the 70's.
  13. the zen man must be too busy singing songs by foreigner, making sure he gets the lyrics right.
  14. in the tv guide, this weekend's special is allotted 3 hours, maybe because of commercials. this show, and fawlty towers - the only excellent comedy to come out of the u.k.
  15. a bud discographer confirms this.

    Ron Burton

really, the best atmosphere to hear ron burton in, is on the kirk early 70's shows. some of those are being treed on the miles list, kirk list, etc. i'm sure that kirk was very disapointed when he had to replace burton in late 1973.
  17. if you want the best sun ra, get everything that he released from 1970-1979.

    Albert Ayler

it's possible that brownie's right. there could be more material from this date. we have 20min, obviously he played a longer concert than that.

  21. this is peculiar, because the day before my posting about this, the timings on your Henry Grimes discography for this session were as wrong as the timings on allmusic.
