Sorry to hear that. But a friend who may have the most acute ear of anyone I know heard Lee in Chicago recently and was very impressed. I felt in the presence of a "legend", but there was no stamina & the "singing" on every song was distracting. He kept looking at his watch, asked how long are we supposed to play & was finished in less than 45 minutes. There was no 2nd set.

I saw / heard Lee live in a quartet last night. It was a little sad & surrealistic. He sang (scatted?) on every song. Appeared to be out of breath. Maybe it was the altitude. When he played mostly it was 8 bar segments. Set overall was quite short. Hope he's O.K. BTW, George Schuller played very nicely.

I wish it was longer.

Justified Going to miss it when it's over.

I don't know, but you seem to be saying that DB is making a lot of money. I love Roscoe but I wonder if he was referring to all of the money that DB is / was making. I doubt that any jazz magazine makes a lot of money or so many of them wouldn't have gone out of business.

I thought the CD was "out of print".

I just bought the new Lightcap & Friends & Neighbors (both Clean Feed) from Squidco.

I originally saw love. Now (2nd look) I also see intelligence & money.

FWIW, I like the new Sunnyside CD with Tootie, Ethan & Ben Street. Don't know what that makes me, but I like the music they make.

I'd argue that people like Nessa, Litweiler, Kart, Sangrey and Crompton (the last two are excellent musicians) have done quite a bit... You know who I meant - not the people you listed.

I tell all my musician friends that there's a web site called Organissimo where they all hate Oscar Peterson, and they all let out a series of epithets that I would not care to write here. In fact, I just got off the phone with a musician who was on the road with Curtis Fuller in Gates' Band (LH), about the consensus on OP, and his reply was*%($(^$(&$% them! LOL I'm not a big O.P. fan, but Stratford Shakespearean Festival - come on!! OTOH, not sure what this has to do with Whiplash.

I have Potsa Lotsa, "Complete Works of Eric Dolphy." I appreciate it more each time I spin it. So do I - I hope "plus" is as good.
