  1. I'm going to get both of those new CDs. The Mike Reed 482 CDs are all excellent IMHO.
  2. Keeps the game interesting IMHO.
  3. I also don't know if it matters that the Jost book is 40 years ago.
  4. Yeah, the "it's valid now that I've figured it out" thing, instead of the "ok, I get it now, wow, cool!" thing, that's why the homicidal impulse never really dies, it just recedes. As Cedric The Entertainer once said "it ain't that bad".
  5. No idea. Back to ignore.
  6. Dusty Groove now has this.
  7. I guess you had to be there. None of those seem to actually be released yet.
  8. Looks interesting. Anyone order from the label previously? Actually the label is called Stone Floor. Sorry!! www.stonefloorrecords.com
  9. going to see her this Saturday night with Michael Formanek & Tyshawn Sorey. New trio for her. I've seen her numerous times and she is a wonderful melodist. A highlight was a trio with Mat Maneri and Tyshawn. Very fine. She has a week at The Stone early next year and there are many interesting combinations. She is special. I like both Kris Davis & Angelica Sanchez - leader dates & side person albums.
  10. goo - gone I hate cracked CD cases.
  11. Ouch!! Apparently we don't agree on these. I thought Show Me A Hero was very good. Not The Wire, but still well done. I've only seen one episode of Public Morals. Will watch the 2nd episode tonight.
  12. I'll get that. Also went ahead and pre-ordered the Halvorson solo CD.

    Ran Blake

The Ran Blake / Jeanne Lee album is an all-time classic!!! The "noir" albums I also like.

    Ran Blake

    Yes - excellent!
  15. Just finished Show Me A Hero. Now watching Public Morals.
  16. Lisa Gornick: Louisa Meets Bear
  17. So how can CD 2 be 97+ minutes??
  18. Grant Green - & I love him too.
  19. John Burdett: The Bangkok Asset
  20. For me the "world music" CD on Vol. 1 was the least interesting.
  21. I've always liked the Stratford album.
  22. Reknes is one I really like.
  23. The Bradford / Gjerstad is from the tour that produced Silver Cornet. It is good. It was recorded in Philadelphia a day or two before Silver Cornet. No turntable at my house, so I guess I won't hear it.
  24. Agree with Allen that Kamasi has little or nothing in common with Lehman or Iyer both of whom I much prefer.
