  1. Trying not to be pessimistic, I think they hope that the regulars will have enough time to "get over" how shoddily the entire affair was handled and come back. At the same time, I think they've made a point about the type of posts they will not tolerate and are hoping that posters who make those types of posts will come back anticipating a new BN world order or perhaps will have found other boards. Personally, I'll go back to check it out. But I'll also no longer be a one board poster either. It's nice to have options and it's nice to know that their places that are more liberal in what they allow as oppossed to a corporate sponsored bulletin board.
  2. I think its terrific as well. GOM and the other above nail it. Its multi label content make it a rarity as well. I would not want to miss this one.
  3. Maybe not great finds, but what turned out to be great bargains - I was crusing around half.com and stumbled on some 90s Blue Notes. Two Orphy Robinson discs and James Hurt. The price was right. $.99 for the discs, from 3 different sellers. Of course the shipping costs add greatly to that. But still, for around $3.50 each I got what turned out to be some not half bad music. I really like the James Hurt and the first Robinson. His second release - "the Vibes Describes" is somewhat weaker, but it was money well spent.
  4. That was a fun read. It was indeed appropriate that bob was able to delete it before they closed the board. That thread was representative of the type of comeraderie and light hearted fun that developed over the years at that board. Its deletion came at the most appropriate of times
  5. It's such a shame that they did not realize what they had. If they did, they would have done their cleanout in an organized and meaningful way. Instead they chose to throw us all out - lock, stock and barrel. Their loss, in more ways than one. I know my buying habits. Not having the constant banter about releases is going to put them back into the mainstream of my consciousness - competeing for my dollars with the rest of the labels out there instead of getting first crack at my wallet.
  6. Bertrand I know you did not appreciate my thread calling for the temporary closure of the board. I'm sorry for that. I just thought that the fall from what I thought was the best board around to the worst was too disgraceful to continue. I hope that when they do resurrect it, they will have the reissues and discography information readily available. As for Tom, I think my last few days worth of posts sum up my feelings about him. They parallel yours. Arrogant, condescending, insentive, uncaring. I wrote several posts to that effect and I meant every word. I no longer have any respect for the man. Some type of sincere formal apology is needed, I think. I'm not holding my breath, though.
  7. Note to self: kulu se mama = rries
  8. A few years ago, the guys at Audiophile USA acquired about 30 or OOP Mosaic sets. They were all priced WAY under ebay prices, which back then were considerably lower than today's ebay prices. By the time I found out, most of the sets I wanted were gobbled up. They had the Getz/Raney, Desmond/Hall, Master Jazz Piano, and Benny Goodman left. I really did not know the music in any of these, but I grabbed them anyways. I don't remember the exact prices, but they were very close the their retail price point! I fell in love with the Desmond/Hall set immediately. The interplay between those two guys was unbelievable. Always on my list of favorite Mosaics.
  9. Hello Everyone. Took me a few days to get around to registering. Thanks for the nice board Jim. I've been wandering around the past few days. I've been a member at Harlem for a while. WAY to slow there. I posted at BN right up to the bitter end. I also tried putting up a couple of posts over at Jazz Corner. As usual, they got ignored. VERY cliquish over there I've found, though they seem to have welcomed Jim S. I've never gotten responses to my posts there, so it must be me. Oh well. I registered at AAJ as some of you have probably seen. That seems like a decent board as well, that one idiot notwithstanding. I like this board as well. Lots of familiar names
