  1. The ongoing duplication in these sets is annoying. I've already got the Lacy/Waldron duo albums in the Lacy box, and now they're in the new Waldron box.

  3. Sure! I know this forum has its share of Jarrett detractors, or at least I've gotten that impression from some comments, but I mentioned Treasure Island because that music transports me to an elevated state of being. Or at least I feel like the musicians are on that plane, and they are edifying and uplifting my experience as a human being. It's more than just putting on a jazz record and grooving to the music. Same with Mingus. I can empathize with the struggle, the dignity, and the commitment to not only his art, but to living a life true to himself. And Ornette has said this too.
  4. Maybe communication is a more appropriate term for what I was stating?
  5. I wouldn't doubt that Mr. Dylan is in agreement with your opinion. As he has stated in interviews when people try to put him on a pedestal of literary genius, "I'm just a songwriter"
  6. "Transcendent experience" is the only reason I listen to music. If there's nothing getting beyond the notes and moving me, I have no interest. And I have no preference for certain instruments, as they are only vehicles for the artists' expressions.
  7. Miles-ESP Mingus-Oh Yeah Keith Jarrett-Treasure Island Oliver Nelson-Straight Ahead John Scofield-Time On My Hands For today, anyway...
  8. There's a gazillion works to listen to. Here's one I really like. In fact I like most of what I've heard by Szymanowski.

What else is there other than outtakes and live material? Crux is a combination of both, and most of it is really good with the exception of the backing tracks sans vocals. I'm in no rush, so I'll wait until some of this stuff gets uploaded to YouTube to see what it sounds like. I enjoy the Road Tapes series, even though the audio quality is sub-par.
  10. Russ Gershon Ben Monder Flora Purim
