  4. Stephen Taylor reports that a new DVD has been issued, called "Fats Waller. This Joint Is Jumpin'" with excerpts from his films. Catalog number is Screen Edge EDGE56D. Although the credits have been erased from this version, in fact the source is a UK Channel 4 TV production called "Sounds Of Surprise" from 1987. DVD includes interviews with Maurice Waller, Eddie Barefield, Marshal Royal, Sammy Price, and Paul Machlin. Best regards, Agustín

  11. Thanks, Chuck. Based on this photograph also by Gottlieb, I don’t thik it’s Wilbert Kirk (who also played harmonica) on that photo taken at Jimmy Ryan’s in 1947 .
  12. A recent post by Michael Steinman on his Jazz Lives blog includes a photograph by William P. Gottlieb, where drummer is listed as being Freddie Moore. From people who saw Freddie Moore playing many times in the 40's, it looks like it's not him on drums. Kansas Fields or Wilbert Kirk have also been suggested. Any help? Thanks in advance, A
