  1. As suggested to me by Fer Urbina: could the guitarist be George Van Eps?
  2. 24 additional "Leader Discographies" have been listed.
  3. Do you own a copy in better condition? I bet so!
  4. For that price, I can´t recommend that one enough! 2-CD set including the original discs "Catalonian Fire" and "Tete!". Trio recordings with NHOP and Tootie Heath, from 1974.
  5. Also highly recommended: on Steeplechase, with Jimmy Rushing (vocal) Emmet Berry (trumpet) Dickie Wells (trombone) Buddy Tate (tenor sax) Earle Warren (alto sax) Al Williams (piano) Gene Ramey (bass) Herbie Lovelle (drums)

Received the disc from brownie in person. Thanks for all, man!!! Looking forward to listening to that disc!
  7. At least the new one has a different picture, and not the old one reversed with a left-handed Lee.
  8. I think it's terrific! Another trio outing also recorded in May '74 worth getting is TETE! These two albums and perhaps TOOTIE'S TEMPO (also on Steeplechase) represent his best trio recordings, IMO. One caveat: Lots of Steeplechase recordings back in the '70s were licensed to a U.S. label, Inner City. The IC pressings are nowhere near the quality of the Danish Steeplechase editions. But for $3.99, it's worth getting particularly if you still put records on the turntable often enough. Martin: Do you happen to have the Inner City issue of "Catalonian Fire"? I still need release date for this US edition. Thanks in advance! Agustín
  9. There´s been a lot of discussion on Lonehill and other related labels. These are some of the previous threads: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...3&hl=definitive http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...topic=9189&st=0 http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...&hl=disconforme http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...&hl=disconforme http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...topic=20626&hl= http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...opic=19181&st=0 http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...topic=11123&hl=
  10. Besides "Ten to two blues", retitled "After hours" in non-Spanish reissues, and already mentioned, there´s another disc with Tete Montoliu that is at least as good: "It´s about blues time" .

  12. Up once more! We´re working hard on the discography lately. A major update will be available at Mike Fitzgerald´s www.jazzdiscography.com in a few weeks.
  13. Up once again! We´re working hard on the discography these days. A major update will be available on-line in a few weeks. Stay tuned!
  14. From a bit later (1968), this MPS disc (a favourite of mine, and not only because Tete Montoliu leads the rhythm section) shows a beautiful contrast between Webster and Byas´ styles:
  15. If interested the truly excellent Hep 2CD "Band box shuffle" is the place to go IMO Yes! Best sounding release of the 1929-32 recordings of the Moten band. And IMHO next step should be the two discs on Frog ("Justrite" and "Kansas City Breakdown"), from the earlier period (1926-29).
  16. Yes, you can use credit card. Change to the English version of the website by clicking the Union Jack at the right side of the screen. Select your discs adding them to the basket. Select "Checkout", fill in the form, selecting TPV-on line as payment method. And you´ll access to Caixa Catalunya Virtual POS (Secure Payment System), where the data from your credit card will be required. Best wishes, Agustín PS: glad to see so much interest on Tete once again on this board! A very interesting NEW TETE MONTOLIU "package" produced by Miquel Jurado will be presented next Monday. I will attend the presentation and open colloquim on FNAC (Callao, Madrid).
  17. "The definitive crappy sounds of Basie´s Columbias"
  18. Word! (though for Basie nuts like you and me.... a Complete Basie on Columbia -leaving aside those Andorran products- is due!!!!)
  19. Try: FNAC España DiscMedi website JazzMessengers And a small advice: avoid the Helix releases. To my knowledge, they are non-authorized reissues that sometimes miss some tracks from the original releases, as you can see in my Tete Montoliu Discography at Michael Fitzgerald´s "JazzDiscography" website. There will be a major improvement in the discography in the next months. Stay tuned! Best wishes, Agustín
  20. Thanks for your input, brownie. Is this the cover for that Hampton LP?
  21. No. The GIITH HighNote CD contains live recordings coming from Jerry Newman´s acetates. Definitely, Classics are not focused on this kind of material.
  22. The only Ellington-related disc I´ve found on ADES label is Bolling Big Band Plays Ellington Black Brown and Beige -Adès ADE 671- (1990)
  23. Somebody asked this on another list: I don´t have New DESOR, and Timner´s "Ellingtonia" doesn´t list issues. No trace of any Ellington release on ADES in the online sources I´ve checked. Thanks in advance, Agustín
  24. This could be a start (from BMI website): http://repertoire.bmi.com/writer.asp?page=...rytype=WriterID
