That means that YOU have completed and corrected the discography, right? ← Well, let´s say that he has used our discography to correct and add a few things here and there. Under permission, of course! And to be fair that is an infinitesimal part of all he has helped us with his first-hand knowledge on Tete Montoliu. He was by his side many years, travelled with him in many of his gigs and was present in many of his recording sessions.

Last night, as part of the events in the Bienal Tete Montoliu, the book “Tete: Casi autobiografía”, by Miquel Jurado, was presented in its Spanish edition. Just a few months after Tete´s passing in 1997, Miquel Jurado published a book that he called “almost-an-autobiography”, with a biographical sketch of the life of Tete Montoliu, based mostly in their countless conversations through many years of friendship. It was written in Catalan and, though he made the translation into Spanish shortly after this Catalan edition, and due to diverse publishing troubles, the Spanish edition had been eternally delayed. Now, seven years after, a revised and expanded Spanish edition has just been published. Jurado has not changed the text significantly, though, among other things, an interesting article written by Tete in defense of bebop back in the fifties and an interview with the pianist when he was just 17, have been included. The graphical facet of the book is the main improvement: it´s a better printed edition with new photos and covers of almost all of the first edition issues of the discs by the Spanish genius. The discography (it´s a issue-oriented discography, not a sessionography, and only includes commercially issued recordings) has been completed and corrected. I´ve been sent a copy by the editors, but still haven´t received it. Thus, all my previous comments come from my talking with Miquel Jurado.

Has anybody ordered from http://www.puppyjazz.com? Is it a reliable on-line distributor? I´ve seen quite a few interesting discs on Arbors and Jazz Connaisseur labels there, for very reasonable prices. Thanks in advance! Agustín PS: do you know any other distributor for Jazz Connaisseur CDs other than their highly priced website, http://www.jazzconnaisseur.ch/frames.asp? ?

What live music are you going to see tonight?

Double session in the XXII Festival de Jazz de Madrid: Javier Vercher Quartet / Dave Holland Quintet -
Lord lists "A child is born" recorded on December 9, 1969, from "Muses for Richard Davis", a MPS disc with bassist Richard Davis and pianist Roland Hanna. No idea if that´s "our" "A child is born", as I haven´t heard it.

Steeplechase cds for sale
EKE BBB replied to connoisseur series500's topic in Offering and Looking For...
Thanks for the clarification, Chuck. It was simple curiosity. I´m in touch with Nils Winther, who has helped me a lot with the Tete Montoliu discography.... but I wouldn´t dare ask him such kind of question! In fact now I realize that you answered this question in your previous post: This implies he was once married to her! -

So Lissa may be his sister or some relative. In any case, there´s a Lissa Winther appearing in "Photographs by ..." in quite a few Steeplechase releases. -

Blue Note to introduce copy-protected discs
EKE BBB replied to Swinging Swede's topic in Miscellaneous Music
What's the duration? The most most recent Lee Morgan Conn ("Sonic Boom") was not copy-crapped due to long duration - seems that discs of a certain lenght (76? 77 minutes?) cannot be released in crappy versions for lack of space on the disc. ← Probably this is the case, Flurin. Can´t give exact running time now, but it´s surely over 75 minutes. Thanks! -
Blue Note to introduce copy-protected discs
EKE BBB replied to Swinging Swede's topic in Miscellaneous Music
I recently bought a few Connoisseurs ("Elmo Hope Trio & Quartet", "Booker Ervin - Tex Book Tenor" & "Ike Quebec - Complete Blue Note 45 Sessions", all released in 2005, all European EMI/Blue Note issues), that I found quite cheap (probably misspriced) in some Spanish megastore. Surprised to see that the Elmo Hope was not copy-protected, while the other two were (as every new Blue Note CD I´ve seen round here in the last two or three years). Could anybody bring some light on this? -
I´m going to see the Tord Gustavsen Trio next week. Apart from "The ground", any more recommendations?

That´s probably one show I´ll attend! And sorry, no politics here.... . . . . . . . . . .
