  2. You can order "Lingua Franca-Cosmic dialects" (Nota299) and "Gentle Ben" (Nota 296) at Jazzos.com. Oops, now I see that "Cosmic dialects" is out of stock.
  3. 5. In fact there are a lot of articles (and even reviews), mistaking Joe Turner for Big Joe Turner. The great stride pianist must bear with that!
  6. There will be a collectors edition in 2006, including four numbered and autographed photographs by Claxton. It will go for about 2.500 €!!! (so this current edition is a bargain!)
  7. I also tried to find the creator´s name, with no result. Not even in the "Notes" section, where the genesis of the website is briefly explained.
  8. bichos mentioned it on another thread, but I thought this amazing website should deserve a separate discussion. A real labour of love! BIRD LIVES...

    Eubie Blake

To my knowledge, "The eighty-six years of Eubie Blake" (Columbia C2S847/22223) recorded December 1968-March 1969 [Eubie Blake, Piano solo] hasn´t made it to CD. Neither have made it any of the LPs he made for his own label, Eubie Blake Music: -Eubie Blake, Vol. 1 Featuring Ivan Harold Browning [Eubie Blake Music: EBM1], recorded 1971 by Eubie Blake and Ivan Harold Browning. -Rags to Classics [Eubie Blake Music: EBM2], recorded 1921 & 1971 by Eubie Blake. -Eubie Blake and his Friends Edith Wilson and Ivan Harold Browning [Eubie Blake Music: EBM 3] recorded 1971, performed by Eubie Blake, Edith Wilson and Ivan Harold Browning. -Sissle and Blake: Early Rare Recordings, Vol. 1 [Eubie Blake Music: EBM 4], recorded 1921- 1927 by Sissle and Blake. -Eubie Blake: Live Concert [Eubie Blake Music: EBM 5], recorded May 22, 1973 by Eubie Blake. -Eubie Blake Introducing Jim Hession [Eubie Blake Music: EBM 6], recorded 1974 by Eubie Blake and Jim Hession. -Sissle and Blake: Early Rare Recordings, Vol.. 2 [Eubie Blake Music: EBM 7], recorded 1919-1931 by Sissle and Blake. -Eubie Blake and his Protégés [Eubie Blake Music: EBM 8], recorded March 18, 1974, by Eubie Blake, Jim Hession, Mike Lipskin, and Terry Waldo -Eubie Blake Song Hits [Eubie Blake Music: EBM 9], recorded 1975 by Eubie and His Girls. Right?

    Eubie Blake

Being such a giant, and with that amazingly long-lived career, the ammount of Eubie Blake´s music available on CD is embarrassingly scarce, IMHO. -We have that Biography CD with piano rolls, "Memories of you" later reissued by Shout! as -And the AIE release "That´s ragtime!", taken from a Stereodditty LP plus a two LP set intended for broadcast and never issued commercially: -And there´s some live Eubie Blake in this Chiaroscuro CD, "Jazz piano masters" (alongside Dill Jones, Teddy Wilson and Claude Hopkins): -"Tricky Fingers" on Quicksilver: And what more is on CD?
  17. ¡¡¡ FELIZ CUMPLEAÑOS, CHRIS !!!
  18. ...and -I´m never happy anymore was also included in The Per Husby Orchestra - Dedications (1985) [Affinity AFF136; Hot Club HCRCD21]
  19. According to Lord´s discography, -Never been in love was also included in Wyatt Bull Ruther´s "Ruther IV" [Van-Los Music VLM3605] with Gerald Brashear (ts,cga). Frederico Cervantes (p,viola,tp) [aka Freddie Gambrell (p,viola,tp) ], Wyatt Ruther (b), Ron Floreno (d), recorded in North Vancouver, B.C., 1972 -there´s a song called Weekend in several albums (no indication if this is Dameron´s composition): *Walter Wanderley - Kee-Ka-roo (1968) In fact it´s an unissued take from this session *Tamba Trio/Four (1968) [A&M 3013] *Hiroko Kobuku (1992) [JVC VICJ127] *Marc Russo - The window (1993) [JVC 2035-2] *Lenny Andrade and the Fred Hersch Trio - Maiden Voyage (1993) [Chesky JD113] *Gilles Bernard - Mot (1997) [Efendi 005]
  20. Thanks, Claude. That seems reasonable.
  21. Thanks!
  22. Curious to know who´s the pianist on track 7. Any more guesses?
  23. I´m afraid your link doesn´t work, brownie.
