  1. I´m almost sure I know this trumpet player, but can´t bring a name (I´m an awful physiognomist!) Any help? Thanks in advance, Agustín
  2. ¡¡¡¡FELIZ CUMPLEAÑOS, FLURIN!!!!
  3. Clark Terry, Sidney Bechet, Johnny Hodges are 3 of them. Thanks for your input, Chris. Wasn´t there already a Bechet (and a Hodges) volume in the previous Masters of Jazz series? Hodges (Master of Jazz vol.9) Bechet (Master of Jazz vol.4)
  4. According to their website, new releases from Storyville Records are coming out soon. And they´re going to relaunch the Masters of Jazz series: 12 new CDs, 6 to be released on May. No idea of what will come out, but the previous volumes on these series combine very rare sessions with others easily available elsewhere. A mixed bag.
  5. I´m afraid this won´t help either: http://www.bsnpubs.com/cadence/candid.html

    Jazz Oracle

A couple of new Jazz Oracle releases are in the works: -Volume 4 of the Dorsey Brothers should appear within the next 3 weeks -the J.C. Johnson set is expected to appear in the next 6 months
  7. From www.jazzdisco.org
  8. Ooops, I should have kept my mouth closed! Anyway, congratulations for one of the best websites dedicated to a jazz artist that I´ve ever known (and I can assure you I have more than two hundred jazz related websites on the "Favorites" tool of my internet navigator!)
  9. Look at the Norman Saks gallery and the Ephemera gallery at the Bird Lives website. There are a lot of autographed documents and, unless I´ve missed it, there´s no "Christopher" in any of them.
  10. ... and

  12. From Brian Priestley´s recent book on Charlie Parker. "Another discrepancy concerns [Charlie's] given name; although there are many references to him as 'Charles Christopher Parker', neither his birth certificate nor his gravestone shows any such middle name" British edition (Equinox, London, 2005 - p. 10)
  13. This week? How could I buy it two weeks ago second-hand at Jussieu Jazz? Absolute ditto to your comments on this wonderful disc!
  14. My best wishes for Marc and his family. He´s a very nice and reflexive jazz-loving guy. I wish he will recover and will be back soon! Though I´ve had a few interesting exchanges with him on and off the board, as I very seldom visit AAJBB lately, I didn´t know anything about his health getting worse.
  15. As suggested to me by Fer Urbina: could the guitarist be George Van Eps?
  16. 24 additional "Leader Discographies" have been listed.
  17. Do you own a copy in better condition? I bet so!
  18. For that price, I can´t recommend that one enough! 2-CD set including the original discs "Catalonian Fire" and "Tete!". Trio recordings with NHOP and Tootie Heath, from 1974.
  19. Also highly recommended: on Steeplechase, with Jimmy Rushing (vocal) Emmet Berry (trumpet) Dickie Wells (trombone) Buddy Tate (tenor sax) Earle Warren (alto sax) Al Williams (piano) Gene Ramey (bass) Herbie Lovelle (drums)

Received the disc from brownie in person. Thanks for all, man!!! Looking forward to listening to that disc!
  21. At least the new one has a different picture, and not the old one reversed with a left-handed Lee.
  22. I think it's terrific! Another trio outing also recorded in May '74 worth getting is TETE! These two albums and perhaps TOOTIE'S TEMPO (also on Steeplechase) represent his best trio recordings, IMO. One caveat: Lots of Steeplechase recordings back in the '70s were licensed to a U.S. label, Inner City. The IC pressings are nowhere near the quality of the Danish Steeplechase editions. But for $3.99, it's worth getting particularly if you still put records on the turntable often enough. Martin: Do you happen to have the Inner City issue of "Catalonian Fire"? I still need release date for this US edition. Thanks in advance! Agustín
  23. There´s been a lot of discussion on Lonehill and other related labels. These are some of the previous threads: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...3&hl=definitive http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...topic=9189&st=0 http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...&hl=disconforme http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...&hl=disconforme http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...topic=20626&hl= http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...opic=19181&st=0 http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...topic=11123&hl=
