If the photo on the cover was taken while playing this new material, it´s late, very late Tete (I´d say later than 1995, probably even 1997, the year of his death). But this is just a supposition. BTW: volume 2 on this collection is dedicated to saxophonist Pedro Iturralde.

It´s a 2 CD release on RTVE-Música (the label from Spanish public TV and radio) with unissued Tete Montoliu material. I still don´t know anything more about it, but will receive a review copy in a few days. It is the first volume of a collection called "Jazz en España", that will pay tribute to the main Spanish jazz artists (and non-Spanish artists that contributed to Spanish jazz scene), bringing to light unreleased stuff from RNE vaults.

After consulting Timner´s discography, Ellington´s autobiography, Strateman´s book and Lambert´s listeners guide, I haven´t found any version of this 1953 Ellington composition by the orchestra or any small Ellingtonians ensemble. I haven´t got Massagli´s New DESOR. I don't think it's the same. I have a very poor transfer of the film on dvd-r and the tune times out less than 2 minutes. It appears to be performed live on the film (a night-club scene). Being able to watch OP play is very cool, (likewise with Hawk but he's not so rare on film) but the sound on my transfer is lousy. ← Sorry if my post misled you: I was meaning that probably the three tracks I mentioned contained the same version. If your version times out less than 2 minutes, we´re talking about a different one. OP is Oscar Pettiford?
