  1. Very sad news. Some JiP discs will be on my stereo today. Small tribute to a great bass player. RIP
  2. I agree that the earlier sides are probably his best stuff, but I strongly recommend this one:
  3. July 1, 1996: -Part of Tete Montoliu & Mayte Martin´s concerts of July 1 to 3 in the Festival Grec 96 (Convent De San Agustí, Barcelona) were issued as K-Industria Cultural CD: K 007 CD - Free Boleros (1996). Horacio Fumero on bass and Nan Mercader on percussion.
  4. Ken Vandermark´s website
  5. BTW: I still haven´t got this one, but have been spinning Eric Alexander & Grant Stewart´s disc "Reeds and Deeds - Wailin´ (Criss Cross, 2005)" lately, and saw them live last weekend, with a different group (w. organ and drums) and they´re simply smooooking!!!
  6. AMG review:
  7. Harold Mabern Piano John Webber Bass Joe Farnsworth Drums
  8. Shakira gave a concert to promote the support of LatinAmerican countries to Madrid´s bid! Go Paris and/or London, GO!
  9. Now here´s an interesting question(s) !!! Anybody?
  10. Nasheet Waits / Peter Brotzmann
  11. Joe McPhee / Lori Freedman
  12. Fred Anderson / K. Jordan
  13. Under his permission, I will post a few photos that Roberto Barahona (see his website Puro Jazz ) took in the Vision Jazz Festival 2005. He will be posting many more in his FTP soon. Peter Brotzmann
  14. Oops, Mike Fitzgerald beat me to it!
  15. Apart from VILCD 1004-2: Harry Edison Six: How long, how long blues, the only other release under a "Village" label with "similar" catalog number that I´ve found in Lord CD-Rom are: -VILCD 1002-2: Stefan Bauer Band: Coming home (1991) -VILCD 2001-2: Various artists: Berne, baby, Berne! International Jazzfestival Berne, various years (Louie Bellson, Modern Jazz Quartet, Oscar Peterson Trio, Sammy Price, Maxine Sullivan, Buddy Tate, Clark Terry, Trumpet Kings, Teddy Wilson) There are also some CDs of 20´s music under a Village (Germany) label with catalog numbers VILCD 0XX-2 (Wolverine Orchestra, Clarence Williams, Frank Teschemacher, Red Onion Jazz Babies...). No idea if these labels are one and the same.
  16. I´ve asked Roberto Barahona to see if he allows me to post some of his photos here. Looks like those appearing at his website, Puro Jazz, are not from this year´s festival.
