Shit! I took the bait again! Just ordered the recent Eldar Djangirov disc on Sony Classical. $9.76, new. I can´t learn....

What I do when I have to send my CC information via e-mail is to send it in two different messages. Not totally sure if this is helpful, anyway... Yes, I do it that way, too, but still... On the other hand, it's irrational... Amazon and other such sites have all that info saved for eternity, and I guess they *could* be hacked, too, so... Yes. I´m sure millions of hackers have my CC information. Thank goodness they can´t steal too much...

Just won the auction for the Japanese edition of Billie Holiday´s "At Storyville" (TKCB-70555). $9.99 plus shipping, factory sealed. And a few days ago I bought Kenny Dorham´s "Scandia Skies" on SteepleChase from a member of this board.

Downbeat vs. Jazz Times
EKE BBB replied to Jazz Kat's topic in Jazz In Print - Periodicals, Books, Newspapers, etc...
I buy both of them occasionally (as for Spanish magazines Revista de Jazz and Más Jazz). And I buy every issue of Spanish magazine Cuadernos de Jazz. -

Up for another round! The research is still alive. Some important additions (with the precious help of Hiroshi Tanno and Nils Winther, among others) have been recently obtained, though still not available in the on-line discography at Mike´s page. Cheers, Agustín

An hour to live...what's your last listen?
EKE BBB replied to Soul Stream's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Some Duke Ellington, some Tete Montoliu, some Old Testament Count Basie and some Art Tatum (solo piano). -
Interesting about the editing issue on the current cd. I don't have the Columbia 10" issue, but will check my 12" Columbia (CL 848) against my French cd (COL 469409 2) to see if they match. Chuck: According to the guys in the DEMS Bulletin: -the 10" LP Philips B07611R is perfectly edited -the CBS 12" LPs (66607L and 62686) and the CBS CD 462989 (Volume 5 of "The Complete Duke Ellington") have the same pause, but without removing the first bar of Dance#2

A fella's gotta eat. B-) So, this means we can email you pre-ordering this new Parker/Gillespie on Uptown plus some Nessa CDs? No, stoopid. This means Chuck will accept canned goods for CDs. Garbonzo beans good with you, Chuck? B-) A stoopid guy is a guy who listens to stoopid music.

Or any recording by the group he led with Chu Berry in the second half of the thirties. A very recommended CD where you can hear this ensemble: "Heckler´s hop" on Hep.
-
Yeah! Or Hawkins/Eldridge/Hodges - Alive at the Village Gate!

Same here, Flurin. I bought two or three of those copy-protected discs at the beginning (among them "Search for the new land"), but not any more! When I really need a RVG or a Conn, I´d rather go to amazon marketplace, ebay or CDUniverse.

I´ve always been a great fan of Rab´s soprano playing. His laying down the soprano in 1940 was a great disgrace to the instrument. Just wanted to share this story, included in Bob Wilber´s "Music was not enough" (MacMillan 1987), that I´ve read in the last DEMS Bulletin.
