  1. No doubt. Was he the single greatest instrumentalist in jazz of all time? I'd say yes. Under the permission of Art Tatum Charlie Parker ... (now I´ll shut up!!!)
  2. Under the permission of Buster Bailey Sidney Bechet Barney Bigard Johnny Dodds Buddy de Franco Jimmy Giuffre Edmond Hall Jimmy Hamilton George Lewis Albert Nicholas Jimmy Noone Russell Procope Pee Wee Russell Tony Scott Artie Shaw ... to name a few! B-) (note the traditional/mainstream jazz tendency of my list) I am convinced that BG was AMONG THE GREATEST clarinet players of all time!
  3. Just noticed that, for the first time ever, organissimo [321.568] has more posts than Jazz Corner [321.476] !!!!!!!!
  4. Sorry if this has been discussed previously or is common knowledge, but does the first track (title track) of the Braxton disc ends abruptly and unexpectedly at 9:09 in all your copies? I´m listening it in my computer at work and I thought Windows Media Player had gone wrong!
  5. Just picked my first four Free America discs, for 12,5 € each: Braxton´s "Donna Lee", the AEC with Fontella Bass, the Mal Waldron & Steve Lacy and the Roswell Rudd. I haven´t listened to them yet, but the packaging and presentation is first class! I will start with the Braxton now. In fact, the title track is now blowin´ my ears at work!
  6. I couldn´t disagree more. I´ve been there five times (about 30 days in total) and everytime I return (last time it was a month and a half ago) I discover something new and exciting. The city has a special flavor, it really appeals to me much more than any other I have visited! And no problem with the French people, ask brownie!
  7. If brownie recommends you 'Le Pre Verre' , take heed of him!!!

  20. Young enough to avoid memories of those hard times, I hope!
  21. Here´s what we´re currently listing on this date: If you could also bring track timing, that would be simply GREEEEEEEEAT!
  22. So, discs released by the French Telefunken are issued as "Ducretet-Thompson" ? I think the one you mentioned is a new addition to the releases list. It´s strange that the Spanish Telefunken EP (RCA/Telefunken TFK 13.007) with "Avertissez moi", "Am I blue?" & "That Old Devil Love", extracted from the original German LP, was issued under name of Teté [sic] Montoliu although he is not the pianist on these tracks. While checking our Tete Montoliu discography with the one on Miquel Jurado´s book, I see there´s some confussion in tracks/issues. To add some light to this, could you list the tracks included in that French LP, and mark on which tracks Tete plays? Thanks for your patience!
