What song is stuck in your head right now?
EKE BBB replied to sjarrell's topic in Miscellaneous Music
That one´s frequently stuck in my head as well. I never improvised over it (in fact I´ve never improvised over any song, as I´m not a musician ), but everytime I hear Charlie Parker playing it, I keep whistling it for quite a few days! -
Our lady´s done quite a few new releases lately!!!

For those who can read Spanish, there´s an extensive and interesting interview with Jordi Pujol in www.tomajazz.com (the best jazz website in Spanish, IMHO): Interview by José Francisco Tapiz: "Jordi Pujol: Buscando el sonido de los nuevos talentos"

As reported on their website, January releases will soon appear: Tatum (guess it will be volume 8 on the 'Live' series), Armstrong & others. Any look ahead with inside information, Chris? EDIT: to correct typo

AFAIK, it will include six previously unissued alternates and one selection that was never issued in any form. Only studio dates. Only big band dates, except for a bunch of sextet sides. And Chris Albertson is writing the liner notes for this set!

Thanks, Bev! I know Paul Bley, though not very deeply. So far I only have "Hommage to Carla" & "The life of a trio: Sunday" with Giuffre/Swallow. And as a sideman, "Sonny meets Hawk" and (I´m talking by memory) he also plays on some tracks of "Mingus revisited", doesn´t he?

Just received a mail from Nils Winther, owner of Steeplechase, confirming my guesses:
-
I should have posted what I own so far: -The mourning of a star -Somewhere before -Facing you -My song -The Köln concert -Always let me go and a CDR of one of the volumes of the At the Blue Note Complete Recordings. Thanks for your recommendations!

Nice design indeed. Very psychedelic colours. But no discographical information on their discs (not even track list), except for the new releases. Guess it´s still a work-in-progress website.

Could anyone having the LP issue of "Tete!" (Steeplechase SCS 1029) and the CD issue of "Catalonian fire" (Steeplechase SCCD 31017) confirm if the version of "Body and soul" included in both releases is exactly the same? I only have the CD issue of "Catalonian fire" and it says all the disc was recorded on May 26, 1974. "Tete!" was recorded on May 28, 1974. But I´ve received some information on these sessions, stating that no version of "Body and soul" was recorded on May 26, and that 5 takes of it were recorded on May 28: -takes 1 & 5 were rejected -take 2 (5:12) remains unissued -take 4 (9:56) was included in the LP issue of "Tete!" (SCS 1029) -take 3 (12:24) was included in the CD issue of "Tete!", instead of the previous one (SCCD 31029). Why Nils Winther changed it I don´t know! As duration on "Body and soul" from my "Catalonian fire" CD is almost the same (9:52), could this one be that Take 4 recorded on May 28 and not on May 26?. This would mean there´s a mistake on the discographical information in the "Catalonian fire" CD and that THE SAME TAKE 4 (May 28) WAS INCLUDED IN THE LP ISSUE OF "TETE!" AND IN THE CD ISSUE OF "CATALONIAN FIRE". Thanks in advance!

10 Organ Records You Must Own To Post Here
EKE BBB replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in Forums Discussion
Goodbye, my friends! This is my last post, as I only have two of those albums, and I´ll be banned in a few hours. It´s been great! -
I have some seven or eight CDs by Keith Jarrett, and I really like what I´ve heard so far. Willing to expand my collection, I ask for your recommendations. Be sure I´ll them into account! I´d suggest you to give three or four names in each one of these categories: -KJ trio playing standards (both jazz standards or pop standards) -KJ trio playing "out" stuff -other recordings (solo piano, other ensembles...) Thanks in advance!
