Call me impatient, but I didn;t have the stamina to read through 40+ pages of this thread to have my question answered [which I'm sure it is somewhere in the bowels of this monster thread] -- what's the story on the packaging? For instance, I'm eyeing The Complete Norman Granz Jam Sessions box. Does it come in the "normal" or "BMG-altered" packaging? What about the rest of the cds? BMG logo or "normal"?

You mean in RI? 'tis dry pickins round here, as you know; just one or two used cd joints that fail to excite and the local chain Strawberries. Haven't checked out the used cd scene in Providence yet, just went to one vinyl joint on Wickenden St, Round Again Records. Not bad. Made it home ok. No adventures. Brought this baby up to 110 mph a couple of times, but won't attempt that again till the tune up and the valve adjustment are done. I think I can add ~30 hp once I put in the Conforti chip, to bring it up to about 280 hp. The sound of that throttle opening up at about 100 mph is better than [some] sex!

I am getting a new Ipod this week so I decided to give the Etymotic (6i) a try another friend recommended these also I was not sure if the in the ear format was the best way to go but for the gym and in the car it makes sense for me Wise choice. Nothing out there matches these[at their price level, that is].

Parkertown, I am VERY anal about records and cds in my collection, but once I left the donated discs on that library counter they ceased to be mine. As long as someone gets some enjoyment out of them, that's all that matters. If nothing changes, I plan to continue doing it on a yearly basis.

Now, say if I were to fly out West and we did some blind listening to your cables and my cables on your system, do you think you could tell the difference between the sound of the different interconnects and speaker cables? 6 correct guesses out of 10 would convince me you got "silver" ears.

so what is "fair market value" for used CDs? What would the local store pay you. AND DATS DA TRUFE! I thought they allow you to write off the retail price. I guess I was wrong. Oh, well. Librarian said they will only sell whatever I brought in if it duplicates titles they already have. I had a LOT of cds and dvds I've been meaning to sell for a long time, but decided to donate them to the library in our town instead. They gave me a tax form, I declared a full retail value and should get a decent write-off for this year's taxes. PLUS the library will now have some nice Duke Ellington, Keith Jarrett and Wayne Shorter discs that perhaps will turn some kid onto jazz. Anybody ever done something like that? Made me feel kinda liberated, too...

I haven't listened to my records since July, everything is still boxed up, as we're fixing the house and obviously my listening room is the last on the "to make livable" list. But I'm back!
